Huge fungi[1] are tree-like structures that generate in the Nether. There are two types of huge fungus: huge crimson fungus and huge warped fungus.

Generation[edit]
Huge Crimson fungus and Huge Warped fungus generate in crimson forests and warped forests, respectively.
Structure[edit]
The trunks of huge fungi are made of either warped stems or crimson stems depending on the type. Huge fungus trunks can be either thick or thin: thick trunks grow up in a 3×3-plus shape, with stray stems sometimes in the corners, while thin trunks grow straight up as a 1×1 column. Trunks grow to be between 4 and 26 blocks tall. Growing around the trunk are "leaves" of nether wart blocks for huge crimson fungi and warped wart blocks for huge warped fungi, up to 4 blocks away from the center of the trunk. The leaves never grow below the trunk. Both variants may have shroomlight generate inside them[more information needed], both replacing the wart blocks and stems. Huge crimson fungi may also have weeping vines growing replacing the same, or from the underside of wart blocks. In this way huge crimson fungi may both grow the weeping vines lower than the stems, initially generate replacing the stems, or even never have stems, when naturally generated uniquely along the local ceiling.
Growth[edit]
Both variants can be grown by using bone meal onto a fungus that is placed on matching nylium; warped fungi grow into huge warped fungi and crimson fungi grow into huge crimson fungi.
Huge fungi grow even with blocks above them,[2] and do not replace any solid blocks when grown; however, they do not grow if blocked by the world height limit. Huge fungi can grow up to 27 blocks tall; the maximum space they can take up is 9×27×9 blocks.
Unlike how leaves decay when logs of a tree are removed, nether wart blocks and shroomlight persist even when the stem of the huge fungus is removed. Hoes are the most effective tools at breaking both of these blocks.
