Grass Block Revision 6.png
This page contains content on features that may be included in the next update.
These features have appeared in development versions, but the full update containing these features has not been released yet.

Fungi are mushroom-like blocks that generate in the Nether. There are two types of fungus: crimson fungus and warped fungus.

Occurrence[edit]

Natural generation[edit]

Fungi naturally generate in the crimson forest and warped forest biomes. Crimson fungi most commonly generate in the crimson forest biome and warped fungi most commonly generate in the warped forest biome.

Post-generation[edit]

Applying bone meal to nylium causes fungi to appear nearby, similar to flowers on grass blocks. While fungi of both types do generate this way, they are more likely to be the same type as the nylium.[1]

Placement[edit]

Fungi may be placed on grass blocks, dirt, coarse dirt, podzol, farmland, nylium, and soul soil. Attempting to place it on any other block fails. Fungus requires a solid block underneath it, and pops off and drop itself if it is no longer supported.

Obtaining[edit]

Loot[edit]

From block loot[edit]

Fungi can be mined instantly with any tool or with no tool.

Growth[edit]

When bone meal is used on fungi that is planted on matching nylium, it grows into its tall equivalent (similar to grass and seagrass). In Bedrock Edition, fungi grows into its tall equivalent with any type of nylium. Crimson and warped fungi grow into crimson and warped huge fungi, respectively.

Breeding[edit]

Crimson fungi can be used to breed hoglins and lead them around. Warped fungi can be used to breed striders and lead them around.

Hoglins[edit]

All hoglins, irrespective of age, avoid and run up to 7 blocks away from warped fungi when it is placed on a block or inside of a flower pot. This does not affect held warped fungus.
