OpposeWhile it makes sense to use a logo for the most current form of Windows, I believe using a logo for the most used version of Windows is better. Plus, that logo is ick. It'll take a year or so for the public to get used to that sight. --Kanegasi C 05:45, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Adding to my last comment, this file is an icon to label Windows-related things in this wiki. This usage is independent of whatever the current Windows version is, therefore it needs to be readily recognizable. Continued usage of the Windows 7 logo is not "incorrect". --Kanegasi C 00:04, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

That blue logo really sucks! EDIT:

Oppose Until the majority of Windows users are on Windows 8, the specific Windows 8 logo is inappropriate, because - among other reasons - it subtly implies you have to be running Windows 8 to play Minecraft. I don't think we necessarily want the latest logo, we want the most appropriate and recognised one, and that will be the older one for some considerable time to come. --82.69.54.207 00:22, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Agree The old logo is more recognizable, but the windows 8 logo is technically correct. I do understand 82.69.54.207's point, but this wiki os formal (like wiki's should be) -Phillips1012 19:59, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

"wiki os formal" What does that mean? As I said above, this wiki has nothing to do with what version of an OS anyone is using. Windows 7 logo is easily recognizable and widely known, therefore it should represent Windows in this file, which is the sole purpose of this file, to mark what type of OS, not version. A company can change its logo all it wants, that doesn't change the purpose of this file, and new logos will reduce the effectiveness of this file. In the future, if the new version becomes more recognizable and positions change, then we can change it.

I do have a suggestion we could consider. Instead of changing this, upload the 8 logo separately if you still want to use it. Keep this file for generic Windows identification and use the separate 8 file for specific 8 issues/mods/userpages/etc. --Kanegasi C 20:28, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
