A bottle o' enchanting is an item which can be used to spawn experience orbs when thrown.

Trading[edit]

Villager clerics will sell bottles o' enchanting for 3–11 emeralds as a fourth tier trade.

Natural generation[edit]

In 1.13[upcoming] bottles o' enchanting can be found in 14.1% of shipwreck treasure chests in stacks of 1.

In Bedrock Edition they can be found in 14.1% of shipwreck treasure chests and 11.8% of buried treasure chests in stacks of 1.

Usage[edit]

A bottle o' enchanting can be thrown by pressing use. On impact it will drop experience orbs worth 3–11 experience points.

Thrown bottles o' enchanting have entity data which define various properties of the entity. Their entity ID is xp_bottle.

1.2.1 12w04a Added bottles o' enchanting. They could only be obtained in creative mode.
1.3.1 12w21a With the implementation of the trading system, the player could trade with priest villagers to obtain 2–4 bottles o' enchanting for 1 emerald.
1.8 14w02a With the trading revamp, villagers no longer sold bottles o' enchanting, making them again unobtainable in regular Survival.
14w31a Cleric villagers now sell bottles o' enchanting for 3–11 emeralds each, making them renewable again.
1.11 16w32a The entity ID is changed from ThrownExpBottle to xp_bottle.
