Compatible Devices[edit]

Device iOS Version Jailbroken? MCBE/MCPE Version Lag? Remarks
iPad 2 iOS 7.1.2 Yes 0.14.3 Some Lag As with other devices, the system will lag when many blocks or mobs have been placed/spawned. Otherwise, the device works fine. There can be crashes that rarely happen in certain conditions. There’s occasional delayed chunk loading, but the lag does NOT make the game unplayable under regular conditions.
iPad 2 iOS 8.3 No No Lag No lag at all. (Max settings)
iPad 2 iOS 7.0.4 No Lag Speedy with view distance on full and clouds on, big lag for 1 second while loading chunks.
iPad 2 iOS 9.3.5 No 1.2.10 No lag but serious Lag spikes and crashes Speedy (60 fps) but constant major lag spikes. Crashes every 5 mins
iPad 3 iOS 5.1 No No Lag No lag at all. (Max settings)
iPad 3 iOS 8.4 Yes 1.0 Some Lag Lag when world has a lot of blocks, particles and entities to render.
iPad 3 iOS 6.0.1 No No Lag No lag, no difference depending on jailbreak. Works great on Fancy Graphics.
iPad 3 iOS 9.3.5 No 1.4.3 Some Lag Some Lag, Render distance 5-6, Fov doesn't change no matter you increase it or decrease it.
iPad 3 iOS 7.1.1 Yes 0.13.2 Some Lag Some freezes when generating world and too many leaves around with Fancy graphics. No lag at all, when playing on existing terrain.
iPad 4 iOS 6.1 Yes No Lag Works great, on Fancy Graphics or not. Lags a bit if recording. Works fine even without jailbreak.
iPad 4 iOS 9.3.1 No 0.14.2 Some Lag When flying around in creative with fancy graphics on there is a slight delay in chunk loading.
iPad Air iOS 8.4 No 0.11.1 No Lag Max view distance, fancy graphics, beautiful skies, animated water. No lag at all.
iPad (2017) iOS 11.2.6 and later No 1.2.10 and later Varies There is lag when many mobs or blocks have been spawned/placed. Chunk loading is sometimes delayed. When moving fast, it causes lag. Otherwise, the iPad runs fine. If there’s too many blocks or mobs that have been placed/spawned, the game might crash, but otherwise, the lag does NOT make the game unplayable under regular conditions (not too much mobs/blocks spawned/placed). If you use resource and/or behavior packs, that might increase the rate of lag. Sometimes, even with a texture pack, there isn’t much lag in a world with many mobs/blocks that have been spawned/placed (such as a city world).
iPad (2017) iOS 11.2.6 No 1.2.3 No Lag Everything max. No signs of lag
iPad (2017) iOS 11.3 No 1.2.10 No Lag Every graphics setting is at its highest, and it retains a smooth framerate (not sure how much; no framerate counter)
iPad (2018) iOS 11.3 No 1.2.10 Varies The performance will be similar to the 2017 iPad, but with fewer lag.

iPad Pro 10.5" iOS 10.3.3 No 1.2.3 No Lag No lag at all. Flawless. Everything on. Fancy graphics, beautiful skies, animated water, smooth lighting, 22 chunks etc.
iPad Pro 10.5" iOS 11.2.5 No 1.2.13 Some Lag Usually works flawless, though in this case settings have been maxed out and the 40 chunks render distance is showing its demands. Rather slight, but constant lag is noticeable while at the surface / viewing a lot of terrain.
iPad Pro 9.7" iOS 9.3 and later No 1.2.10 and later Varies The performance will be similar to the first generation 12.9 inch iPad Pro and the 2017 iPad. The processor is slightly underclocked than the first generation 12.9 inch iPad Pro, but not by so much, so the difference in the amount of lag still might not be noticed between the two first generation iPad Pros. The iPad Pro might not have as much lag as the 2017 iPad.
iPad Pro 12.9" (2015) iOS 9.1 and later No 1.2.10 and later Varies Performance will be similar to the 9.7 inch iPad Pro and the 2017 iPad, but with a slightly decreased chance of lag that will occur.
iPad Pro 12.9" (2017) iOS 10.3.2 and later No 1.2.10 and later Varies The performance will be similar to the 2018 iPad, but the amount of lag might be less than on the 2018 iPad. The performance will be like the 10.5 inch iPad Pro, since the processors are the same and clocked at the same clock rate.
