Tweaking pages

Hello there! I made a minor tweaking for this article on my page, just tell me what do you think, Imo it would be better like that, more organized. Maybe we can try to get this "style" on the others pages too. I saw a lot of article a bit disorganized like the "Cake" page. Thanks for the feedback! (I just added the "Blueprint" and "Speed" btw) Octocat 07:34, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

I think that looks better, much more organized. From looking around it's usually "Crafting" and not "Blueprint" as a header, though. Izzalion 01:06, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
I updated this page, going to update the other tool pages at least to match this since it's at least some form of organization. Izzalion 03:50, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Axe speed on bookcase block

I did some in-game testing and noticed that axes chop down bookcase blocks considerably faster than bare hands or other tools. Anyone care to perform some precise testing to come out with some numbers for the speed table? Izzalion 01:28, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

I did some more in game testing to confirm that axes are useful for removing bookcases, but I lack the tools to accurately measure the speed. Anyone care to give it a shot? Izzalion 03:50, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Cacti

I just noticed the axes chop Cacti slightly faster. Is it really so? I'd like someone to do some tests, since I'm incapable. --Franx12 12:05, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Swords do same, too. Just tested, axes are NOT faster. Calinou 17:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Oh, ok. Thanks for testing that. --Yours truly, franx12 19:17, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Weapon/Tool

I'm going to edit it to say that it's a weapon as well as a tool due it's effects on NPCs, change it back if I'm wrong. Paradeoxy 10:17, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

I edited the information to be more accurate. They can double as weapons in a pinch. Alkheemist 10:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Everything can be used as a weapon, It's unnecessary--Cby 10:34, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
However, axes will take off more Hearts than a fist or a block. Not as much as a sword, but it makes killing stuff easier if you don't have one. I think the addition should stay.Alkheemist 10:40, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
I'll test that first, one minute--Cby 10:42, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Just tested it on a pig. It's true!--Cby 10:49, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Pickaxes do more damage than your fist also, does this mean we should list them as a weapon? Wait, shovels do more damage also should they be listed as a weapon? I think that tools should just be listed for their intended purpose. Timberdoodle 12:06, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

I tested the other tools, they were the same as the hand--Cby 12:10, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Read health and damage. Also the tools get hurt twice from using them as weapons. Timberdoodle 12:15, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

I Know, I wrote that on the page--Cby 12:17, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Hit a chicken with a stone pick, it dies with one blow, cows die with three blows. It takes your fist, 2 and 5 times to do that. They do more damage. Timberdoodle 00:54, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

It's a tool. The type is meant for the intended purpose, and its intended purpose was to cut down trees/planks/etc. Cool12309(T|C) 01:03, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I just found a whole table about tools as weapons on the Weapons page. If you want, you could add a link on this page, although it isn't really neccesary. Alkheemist 02:59, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I most certainly agree with you that it's a tool. Timberdoodle 13:02, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

It's a tool that works as a weapon. The reason it's being called a weapon is because it only does a half heart less that a sword, making it the best tool to use as a weapon. So, it should be considered both. 68.231.106.86 15:23, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

Fence

I can't remember Axes collecting fences that efficiently, but at least since Minecraft RC2, my axe is able to mine fences (about?) as fast as regular wooden planks in abandoned mineshafts. I really like that, those "fences"/supports in the shafts were the most annoying blocks to remove (if you wanted them gone for some reason, that is).
I think it should be added to the table. 84.177.127.174 20:54, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

agreed; keep in mind that fence explicitly mentions axe as the tool

Bookcase comment in main page

Can someone explain or clarify this:

as the axe is not needed to collect items for which it is suited to breaking or, in the case of bookcases, does not help in collecting it.

What does it mean, "does not help in collecting it"?

Keybounce 05:34, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

When bookcases are broken, they drop individual books rather than the bookcase block. The first half of the sentence doesn't strictly apply, since you can't collect the bookcase itself (at least, not without Silk Touch). -- Orthotope 07:23, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Looting

Hello i testet in Crativ and Looting works on Axe's (since 1.81) i dont know why noone testet it or changed it in the wiki –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.115.17.230 (talk) at 8:11, 20 February 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

You can apply any enchantment to anything in creative, it only gets added if it works in survival. KnightMiner (t·c) 15:01, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

They really need to fix this

In 1.9, wooden axes do the same damage as a diamond sword. 101.161.40.60 06:55, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Only if you're using them wrong (i.e., trying to spam-click with the sword). -- Orthotopetalk 18:04, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Mending Enchantment

Mending needs to be added to the list of possible axe enchantments. ```` –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.9.203.241 (talk) at 20:05, March 2, 2016‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Good catch! None of the 1.9 enchants were listed in the 'enchantments' sections of any of the tools or weapons pages. Added. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 05:44, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Sharpness/Smite on an Enchantment Table

A couple of times recently people have edited Enchanting to say that the Enchantment Table will enchant an axe with Sharpness and Smite. Based on a footnote on this page, I reverted it, but this time I tested it in Bedrock and sure enough, I got Sharpness I on the first axe and Smite I on the third. So the footnote is wrong for Bedrock Edition. The question is, does Java also do this? If not, it might be a bug or an exclusive feature. – Auldrick (talk · contribs) 15:43, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

I conducted a small test on 1.16.3 Java Edition - for each of the 6 tool materials, exactly 0 out of 100 axes received any form of Sharpness, Smite, or Bane of Arthropods when enchanted with level 30. While this isn't definitive (not until someone takes a look at the code), it strongly suggests that these three enchantments cannot be applied via the Enchantment Table in Java. If this isn't the case in Bedrock, I would suggest modifying the table in the Enchantments section and/or adding a footnote to reflect this. --4bddn (talk) 16:12, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
