File:End minecraft.jpg

A view of the End. The Ender Dragon can be seen flying, as well as obsidian pillars with ender crystals and several endermen.

The End is a dimension with a stark, empty plane containing a single floating planet-like island.

Overview

The starless sky and the Void of the End are both composed of a blank, static pattern. The day-night cycle is absent in the End, similar to the Nether, being replaced by a constant dim light. Most items and blocks function in the End exactly as they do in the Overworld, with a few notable exceptions. Fluids may function as normal in the End, and plant growth is unaffected. Compasses will be unable to find the original spawn point, as it cannot be set to a place within the End, and clocks cannot determine the position of the sun and moon, because it is in another dimension. Maps don't seem to map correctly, only mapping static; as in the Nether, beds will explode and cause fire when used, and nether portals will not activate in the End.

The player must go through the process of finding, repairing and activating the end portal found within a stronghold in order to enter the End. Once they spawn in the End, they can spawn anywhere within a relative distance to the island.

Once one enters the End, there is no way out without dying, except to defeat the Ender Dragon. It will spawn naturally and float around above a number of obsidian pillars, each of which has an ender crystal on top of them. These crystals regenerate the Ender Dragon's health. To destroy these crystals, you need to shoot them with a bow and arrow. Once all of the Crystals are destroyed, the Ender Dragon will be vulnerable. Once defeated, the Ender Dragon will dissolve, and create an exit portal. On top of it there is a dragon egg. When the player goes through the exit portal, the "End Poem" and the credits will roll shortly afterwards, thus completing Minecraft and earning the player the "The End." achievement.

The player then re-spawns in the Overworld and may return to the End through the same portal. The End remains in the state as the player left after the ender dragon is slain, devoid of the ender dragon and featuring the portal back to the Overworld.

Traveling to the End

Main article: End Portal
File:Screen shot 2011-10-13 at 11.17.14 PM.png

An activated End Portal found in a stronghold.

The player must collect up to 12 ender pearls by killing Endermen, and craft them into eyes of ender. Blaze powder is required to craft them, although an alternate method that the player can use is to trade with villagers for the eyes of ender.

Then the player needs to return to the Overworld and locate a stronghold. They can use an Eye of Ender to locate one by tossing it into the air and following the direction the eye flies towards until it lands on the ground to be recollected. The player is advised to craft a few extra eyes, as they will occasionally disappear or shatter to pieces. The eyes of ender will take you straight to the end portal frame blocks or the starting staircase of the stronghold. If a ravine or an abandoned mine shaft intersects with the room, some portal frame blocks may be missing and the end portal will not be usable. For the End Portal to activate, the player must insert an eye of ender on each of the empty frame blocks. Up to 12 Eyes may be needed, but some portals will require fewer than 12, as some may already be generated there.

An activated end portal allows the player to enter the End immediately, appearing on top of a 5×5 obsidian platform in the End.

Upcoming

File:New End 15w31b.png

Part of the new section of the End. An End City is visible.

In 1.9 (beginning in snapshot 15w31a)‌[upcoming], there were various changes made to the End.

The ender crystals now sit on top of a set amount of differently-sized pillars are arranged in a circular fashion. The tallest pillars have iron bars around their ender crystal, which makes it so that you have to climb some of the pillars, making the fight harder. The exit portal is pre-generated, but without the dragon egg and portal blocks. There are also an infinite number of islands in the end, with the end gateway being used to transport to these islands once the ender dragon has been killed. On these other islands, end city dungeons generate. In addition, the ender dragon fight has been changed, and can be defeated an unlimited amount of times.

End-affected materials

Just like the Nether, compasses and clocks will spin randomly and beds will explode when the player tries to sleep. Maps created in the Overworld will not show the player's position in any other dimension. For Maps to display the End, they must be created there. Unlike maps in the Nether, the indicator will not spin wildly and point in random directions.

Nether portals cannot be activated in the End.

Fire burns indefinitely on bedrock in the End, but will not naturally spread to bedrock.

History

b
?In an earlier stage of development, the third playable dimension was known as the Sky Dimension, and had Overworld blocks and mobs, as well as a sky similar to that of the Overworld.[1]
Notch first mentioned the End with his comment regarding the theoretical name-change of the Endermen - some players complained that the name was too similar to that of "the Slender Man", a fictional cryptid created online, and petitioned Mojang to have the mob renamed "Far Landers", a reference to the area of every generated map nicknamed the Far Lands. He joked that instead of renaming the mobs Far Landers, he was more likely to change the name of the Far Lands to "the End". In later Beta versions, the Far Lands were removed and the End was revealed as the native land of the Endermen.

Obsidian boats sank in water instead of floating. They also sank in lava like other boats but did not get destroyed in it.

Sounds
Obsidian boats used the Friendly Creatures sound category for entity-dependent sound events, although did not have any sounds of their own.

An item frame is an entity or block entity that displays the item or block that is inside it.

A glow item frame keeps itself and the item inside it illuminated, even in the dark.

Obtaining
Breaking
je, an empty item frame can be broken simply by punching it. If the item frame contains an item, punching it drops the item, leaving the frame on the wall.

Because item frames are entities java, they can be broken in Adventure mode. They will also be targeted by commands using the @e selector.java

Trading
Expert-level cartographer villagers have a chance to sell an item frame for 7 emeralds.

Usage
Item display
Item frames can be placed on the sides of cactus blocks, pressure plates, fences, trees, slabs, cobblestone walls, chests, doors, and all solid blocks. They can also be placed on the top and bottom of these blocks. To place on chests and doors, the player needs to be sneaking. As item frames are an entity, multiple item frames can occupy the same block, although on different faces. It also allows non-solid blocks to occupy the same space.java

Players can place items in the frame by using the item. If a map is placed in an item frame, it enlarges to show the map in the size of a full block, with the item frame's location displayed as a green pointer on the map, pointing in the direction the item frame is facing. If this is done in the Nether, the green cursor spins around similar to the white cursor (players). If an item in an item frame has been renamed using an anvil, it displays its custom name when the cursor is over the item frame. If the player places a block inside the frame, it is displayed in miniature half in, half out of the block. This can be most notably seen on stairs or slabs.

Pick block may be used on item frames by players in creative mode only, the control has no effect for players in Survival or Adventure mode. When the item frame is displaying an item, pick block picks the displayed item instead of the item frame.

Item frames can be placed on the lid of a shulker box that is positioned horizontally, but pop off when the lid is opened.java

Rotation
The displayed item can then be rotated by right-clicking the frame. Items displayed in the item frame can turn 45° diagonally, with a total of 8 possibilities (90° and 4 possibilities if it is a map), and the frame outputs a redstone signal depending on the rotation phase that can be interpreted by a redstone comparator (note that this rotation value is separate from the clock or compass rotation). As long as the frame remains placed, it remembers the orientation of the last item it held, and uses it for the next item it holds.java

Glow item frames
When an item is placed inside a glow item frame, it appears to glow, even though it does not emit any light level.

Sounds
Item frames and glow item frames share the same sounds.

*The item frame is based upon a suggestion on Reddit, like the ender chest and flower pot.
*The item frame is the only entity to reference a block model. Because of this, the texture of the frame border is the same as the birch planks texture.
*Item frame is the only placeable item that can interfere with other non-full block entities.
*Due to the way layer textures are displayed in Minecraft, maps float on item frames, similar to how icons float on the map itself.

Beta 1.9-pre4Added the End. Notch tweeted "raqreqentba," which could be decoded using the ROT13 cypher, translating to "enderdragon." A Reddit user under the name of "cptqwashi" posted the idea that the new dimension accessed by the new "Crystal Block Portal", would be called "the Ender", and would be home to the Endermen and Ender Dragons.[2] Notch soon gave more information and said that cptqwashi was "100% correct," mentioning that it would be called "the Ender" and that there would be ender dragons.[3] However, it was later revealed that it was just called "the End" and that there would be only one ender dragon there.[4] In 1.9pre4, an ender dragon spawned near a portal that it would destroy, but end portal blocks would continue to function even if the frame was destroyed. The ability to create end portal frame blocks in Creative Singleplayer mode was also removed.

A powder snow bucket is a bucket with powder snow inside.

Obtaining
A powder snow bucket can be obtained by using an empty bucket on a powder snow block or powder snow cauldron.

Usage
Pressing use while holding a powder snow bucket places a powder snow block. Java, powder snow may also be placed inside empty cauldrons, creating powder snow cauldrons.

Dispensers can also create and place powder snow buckets. However, they cannot do so with cauldrons. You can also use it to cushion falls in the nether by placing it below you when falling.

Kelp is an underwater plant that generates in most oceans.

Obtaining
Natural generation
Kelp naturally generates in any ocean biomes (except in frozen, deep frozen and warm), near and around seagrass. Each chunk has 1 chance to generate a vegetation of kelp.

Breaking
Kelp can be mined instantly with any tool or with the player's fist. Removing water from the kelp block destroys the kelp. Breaking one part of a kelp stalk destroys all kelp blocks above it. Each block drops a kelp item.

Trading
Kelp can be bought from wandering traders for 3 emeralds.

Usage
Kelp can be placed underwater by hand, or anywhere by the use of commands such as setblock. Placing it by hand gives it a random age value between 0 and 24. Kelp can be placed only in water source blocks or downward-flowing water, not horizontally flowing water.

When placed in downward-flowing water, the flowing water transforms into a water source block, which is useful for faster bubble column elevator creation.

Any building block can be placed on top of a kelp plant, which is useful for building structures over a deep ocean without needing to build from the ocean floor (see also lily pad).

Cooking ingredient
Composting
Placing kelp into a composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1.

Growth mechanics
Kelp can be planted on a broad variety of blocks. It grows underwater if it has either a source block of water or, Java, flowing water above it. Neither players nor dispensers can remove the water source block that kelp grows in without breaking the kelp first.

Kelp does not require any light level to grow. Kelp also grows without having sky access. Bone meal can be used to grow kelp by 1 block on each use.

Kelp, when planted, is generated with a randomly chosen age value, which can be checked when pressing <kbd>F3</kbd>java. The age value of a newly planted kelp plant varies randomly from 0 to 24. Each time the kelp grows in height by one block, the newly generated top of the kelp plant increases its age by 1. When the top block of the kelp plant reaches an age of 25, it stops growing. This means that kelp can naturally grow to a height between 2 (if the first kelp plant had an age of 24) and 26 blocks (if the first kelp plant had an age of 0).

When a kelp plant block is broken, the age of the kelp plant block underneath is randomized to a value from 0 to 24 and the kelp continues growing until it reaches age 25. It is possible to use this mechanic to cultivate a kelp plant to increase its growth height beyond its natural maximum height of 26 blocks. This can be done by breaking the top-most block of the kelp plant each time it reaches age 25. A kelp plant cultivated by a player in this way repeatedly grows until it reaches the water surface.

Each time it receives a random tick, kelp has a 14% chance of growing.

If shears are used on the topmost block of kelp, that block automatically sets its age value to 25 and stop growing.JE

Farming
Tutorials/Kelp farming
Kelp farming is similar to farming sugar cane, although kelp must be placed underwater. Automation of harvest is easier because items float up in water.

Trivia
* In real life, kelp is not considered a plant. It is classified by scientists as a brown algae.
** Kelp in real life absorbs nutrients directly from the water, instead of through its root-like structure, holdfast, which merely attaches it to the seabed. This is in accordance with kelp being able to grow on almost any solid block in Minecraft.

Leather is an item used to make item frames, armor and books.

Obtaining
Mob loot
Upon death, cows, mooshrooms, horses, donkeys, mules, llamas and trader llamas drop 0–2 leather, while hoglins drop 0–1 leather. The maximum amount is increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 5 leather (4 leather from hoglins) with Looting III.

A fox sometimes spawns holding leather, which always drops upon death. Alternatively, a player can drop a food item, causing the fox to drop the leather.

Fishing
Leather can be obtained as a "junk" item from fishing.

Unit repair
Anvil mechanics#Unit repair

A sword can be repaired in an anvil by adding units of the tiers' repair material, with each repair material restoring 25% of the sword's maximum durability, rounded down.

Mob loot
Drops#Equipped items

Some mobs can spawn with a sword and have an 8.5% chance of dropping them upon death caused by player. This chance is increased by 1% per level of Looting, up to a maximum of 11.5% with Looting III. Zombies and husks can drop iron swords, zombified piglins and piglins can drop golden swords, and wither skeletons can drop stone swords. The dropped sword is usually badly damaged and may be enchanted. Stone swords dropped by wither skeletons are never enchanted.

A vex wields an iron sword that normally has a 0% chance of dropping, because their main hand's <code>HandDropChances</code> is 0. However, this chance increases by 1 percentage point per level of Looting. It is never damagedjava and may be enchanted.

be, pillagers and vindicators that spawn from raids have a 4.1% chance (5.12% chance on hard mode) of dropping a damaged iron sword. This sword has a 50% chance of being enchanted.

Trading
bedrock, an apprentice-level weaponsmith villagers sells enchanted iron swords for at least 7-21 emeralds, and a master-level weaponsmith sells enchanted diamond swords for at least 13-27 emeralds.

java, a novice-level weaponsmith villager has a 2 chance of selling an enchanted iron sword for at least 7-22 emeralds. A master-level weaponsmith offers to sell an enchanted diamond sword for at least 11–27 emeralds.

The enchantments of the swords offered by villagers are the same as the ones obtained from an enchantment table at levels 5–19.

Chest loot
Usage
Attacking
Pressing attack while holding a sword inflicts damage on both mobs and other players. Upon damaging a mob or player, the sword's durability decreases by 1.

Attacking a boat or a minecart with a sword stone tier or higher instantly destroys it java, without decreasing the sword's durability. Otherwise, it requires 2 hits, with neither decreasing durability.

Sweeping
If the attack recharge meter is 84.8% or above and the player is on the ground standing or moving slower than the sprinting speed in a straight line, the sword performs a sweeping attack indicated by a gale particle that reaches nearby enemies for 1 and knocks them back; the amount of knockback is 80% that of the basal knockback and does not benefit from the knockback enchantment. As result, the player can perform a sweep attack while they are sprinting diagonally but it is impossible to perform a sweep attack at the same time as a critical hit or while riding some entity. All enemies within an 1 by 0.25 by 1 block area of any part of the attacked mob and whose feet are 3 or less blocks away from player's feet are affected. The sweeping edge enchantment increases the damage dealt by 50% of the normal hit damage for level I, 67% for level II and 75% for level III.

Sword breaking times
Breaking

A sword can also be used to destroy certain blocks 50% quicker, sometimes much quicker than with fists. Using a sword to destroy any block that doesn't break instantly by hand decreases its durability by 2; this includes bamboo, despite that the sword is the fastest tool for breaking it.

If a sword is enchanted with Silk Touch, either using Creative or commands, cobwebs the sword destroys will drop the cobwebs themselves instead of the usual string. This is due to the sword being classified as the proper tool for cobwebs.

The following table shows the time it takes to break blocks on which swords have any effect. Colors indicate what gets dropped:
* White: an original block.
* Blue: block's normal drop (e.g. seeds, sapling, apple).
* Red: nothing.

Safety around constructions
In Creative mode, swords are unable to break blocks. However, care must still be taken around minecarts, paintings, item frames,java and armor stands; these are entities, thus can be broken with swords in Creative.

Blocking
Blocking

Previously, since the Adventure Update, all types of swords could be used to parry to block some forms of damage. If the player is blocking with a sword when attacked, the sword deflects 50% of incoming damage from melee, non-magical projectiles like arrows, and explosions, along with minimizing airborne knockback. The sword is held in front of the player and its durability is not reduced by blocking. The player moves at a slower rate than sneaking if blocking with a sword. Sword blocks could be engaged and disengaged instantly, with no delay between the input and damage mitigation nor cooldown between lowering a block and raising a new one.

After the Combat Update, the sword blocking functionality was replaced by blocking with shields and to accommodate the dual wield system. Shields negate more damage and knockback than sword blocking from "blockable" attacks (they block 100% damage and knockback after Java Edition 1.11), but, unlike swords, they lose durability, have a 0.25 second startup period before damage can be mitigated and can be temporarily disabled by attacks with an axe.

Knockback
The knockback dealt by swords used to be higher than while the players are using another melee items, like an axe or with the hands. This feature was removed in Java Edition 1.9 and is also no longer used in Bedrock Edition.

Trivia
*The sword's traditional texture came from Notch's abandoned RPG, Legend of the Chambered. The iron sword's texture was created first, as it was from the game, and the other swords followed.
*In Java Edition, with the introduction of netherite swords, it is possible to one-hit kill undead mobs in the game (except withers and zombies/skeletons with random armor) using a sword with the Smite V enchantment, without the need to perform a critical hit (this was previously possible only with a Smite V stone, iron, or diamond axe).
*Plastic diamond and enchanted swords are official Minecraft merchandise.
*In the game Transformice, a diamond sword can be found in the shop.

Cooked salmon is a food item obtained by cooking raw salmon.

Obtaining
Mob loot
Salmon
Salmon always drops 1 raw salmon when killed, unaffected by Looting. If it is killed while on fire, it drops 1 cooked salmon instead.
Guardians and elder guardians
Guardians and elder guardians have a 2.5% chance to drop a random fish, with 25% of them being raw salmon, which drops as cooked if the guardian was on fire. The chance of getting the fish drop is increased by 1% per level with Looting (for a maximum of 5.5% with Looting III), but the type of fish is not affected.
Polar bears
Polar bears have a 25% chance of dropping 0–2 raw salmon when killed. The maximum amount can be increased by 1 per level of Looting, for a maximum of 0-5 with Looting III. If killed while on fire, they drop cooked salmon instead.

Cooked salmon can be obtained by cooking raw salmon in a furnace, smoker, or on a campfire. Each piece of cooked salmon removed from a furnace output slot gives 0.35 experience (22.4 experience per stack).

Trading
Apprentice-level fishermen villagers have a 50%bedrock or 2java chance to sell 6 cooked salmon for 6 raw salmon and an emerald.

Usage
Food
To eat cooked salmon, press and hold use while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores 6 and 9.6 saturation, the same as cooked mutton.

Wolves
Bedrock, cooked salmon can be fed to wolves only if they are not at full health, healing them by . Cooked salmon does not accelerate the growth of baby wolves and cannot be used to breed them.

}}Melon seeds are items obtained from melon slices that can be used to grow melon stems.

Melon stems are plants grown on farmland that, over time, grow melons on dirt, mud and moss blocks adjacent to them.

Obtaining
Breaking
When broken, a melon stem drops 0–3 melon seeds. The chance for melon seeds to drop increases with the stem's age.

Trading
Usage
Farming
Tutorials/Pumpkin and melon farming
Melon seeds can be planted only on farmland, as stems. Over time, a stem grows through several stages[needs testing] and, at its final growth stage, will produce melons on any adjacent dirt, coarse dirt, rooted dirt, grass block, farmland, podzol, mycelium, moss block, mud or muddy mangrove roots. If a melon is already occupying a spot adjacent to a stem it does not grow more melons until the melons is removed. A single stem can grow an unlimited number of melons. Melon stems need a minimum light level of 10 in the block above the stem to grow and give melons. Melon seeds are affected by bone meal only with respect to stem growth; bone meal does not help produce the actual melons.

Breeding
Like other seeds, melon seeds can be used to breed chickens, lead chickens around, and make baby chickens grow up faster by 10% of the remaining time.

Taming
Like other seeds, melon seeds can be used to tame parrots.

Composting
Placing melon seeds into a composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1.

Melon Stem
A melon stem is the block that is planted on farmland when melon seeds are used on it. It starts underground, and rises up as the plant grows. The stem is colored green when young, and then yellow once fully grown.

The stem curves once a melon has grown from it. A fully-grown single stem connects to any melon in an adjacent square, thus there are 5 possible appearances to a stem. If there are multiple melons it can connect to, it favors the east, then west, north, and south. When the melon is removed, the stem returns to its straight shape.

Chorus fruit is a food item native to the End that can be eaten, or smelted into popped chorus fruit. It can be eaten even when the hunger bar is full, and eating it may teleport the player up to 8 blocks in any direction.

Obtaining
Tutorials/Chorus fruit farming

Chorus fruit can be obtained by breaking chorus plant blocks. Each block of chorus plant has a 50% chance to drop a chorus fruit. This is not affected by Fortune.

Usage
To eat chorus fruit, press and hold use while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores 4 hunger and 2.4 hunger saturation.

Unlike most foods, chorus fruits can be eaten even when the player has a full hunger bar.

The player may also be teleported: up to 16 attempts are made to choose a random destination within ±8 on all three axes in the same manner as enderman teleportation, with the exception that the player may teleport into an area only 2 blocks high, or one block tall if the player is crawling. The player does not land in the average centroid of the block, but rather to any position within an 8-block range. The player will be teleported directly down to the ground regardless of the height it was used at if the player is too far from a valid destination.

The chorus fruit, unlike an ender pearl, can teleport the player through solid blocks. The algorithm tries to avoid fluids; the player cannot teleport into a space occupied by water or lava. However, the player can be teleported onto dangerous blocks such as fire, cacti and magma blocks.

If a teleport succeeds, a sound similar to an enderman teleporting plays originating from the teleportation origin location. Chorus fruit has a cooldown of 1 second before being able to be used again. The cooldown is represented by a white overlay on the chorus fruit in the hotbar. The cooldown is applied to all chorus fruits items, including those in the player's inventory and containers.

Eating chorus fruit may teleport the player into areas protected by bedrock, barrier blocks, or other blocks that are otherwise unbreakable in Survival mode. However, it cannot teleport the player onto the Nether roof.

Chorus fruit is completely non-functional above the nether roof.

Foxes can also eat chorus fruit and the teleportation effect works the same as with players.

A saddle is an item required to ride pigs and striders or control ridden camels, horses, donkeys and mules.

Obtaining
Chest loot
saddle

Fishing
Saddles can be obtained as a "treasure" item from fishing with a base chance (without fishing rod enchantments) of 0.8%.

Trading
Master-level leatherworker villagers have a 50% chance to sell a saddle for 6 emeralds as their trade.bedrock This trade is always offered in Java Edition.

Mob loot
Any mob that the player equips with a saddle drops the saddle upon death.

A strider may spawn being ridden by a zombified piglin, which causes it to spawn wearing a saddle. This saddle always drops when the strider is killed.

A ravager always spawns with a saddle and always drops the saddle upon death. Looting does not affect the drop.

Usage
While camels, horses, donkeys, mules and skeleton horsesJava can always be ridden, a saddle is required to control them. These mobs (only after being tamed, in the case of equine mobs) can be equipped with a saddle by placing it in their inventory, which can be opened by pressing use while holding a saddle or sneaking. The saddle can be unequipped by removing it from Saddle the specific inventory slot.

Saddles are required to ride pigs and striders, but even with a saddle their movement cannot be controlled like other mobs. A carrot on a stick (for pigs) or a warped fungus on a stick (for striders) is required to direct these mobs. Using a saddle on one of these mobs equips them with the saddle, and, since they have no inventory, there is no way to retrieve the saddle without killing the mob.

Animals can also be equipped with saddles by a dispenser.

Although ravagers are equipped with saddles and sometimes ridden by other mobs, the player is unable to ride ravagers.

* A saddle is considered "armor" by the game, but the value of protection to the animal is zero.
* A saddle on a pig can still be seen if the pig is afflicted with Invisibility.
* When riding a saddled mob, the hunger bar is replaced by hearts (representing the mounted mob's health) resembling the look of the saddle.

Dyes are a set of sixteen items used to change the color of wool, carpets, terracotta, concrete powder, glass, shulker boxes, beds, candles, the patterns on banners, firework stars, certain mobs, and text on signs and hanging signs. bedrock they can also be used to dye water in a cauldron (which is thereafter used to dye leather armor); java leather armor can be dyed directly. education dyes can also be used to dye balloons and glow sticks.

bedrock, bone meal, ink sacs, lapis lazuli, and cocoa beans can generally substitute for white dye, black dye, blue dye, and brown dye, respectively, in crafting recipes and for use in dyeing items or mobs. However, they have other important uses that aren't related to color, and are therefore not considered true dyes. They are mentioned in this article only in regard to their use as dyeing agents; see their individual articles for complete information about them.

Obtaining
<!---->

Dyes can be produced by crafting them from plants (mainly flowers), by crafting dyes of different colors together, by smelting plants, or by trading with a wandering trader.

Crafting/Dye

Smelting
Trading
Wandering traders can sell 3 dyes for an emerald. bedrock, they can also sell 3 lapis lazuli, bone meal, cocoa beans, or ink sacs for one emerald.

Apprentice-level cleric villagers sell one lapis lazuli per emerald.

Chest loot
Other
Ink sacs can also be created using 1 iron, 1 sulfur, and 4 oxygen in the compound creator. bedrock

Usage
Similar to their use in crafting, bone meal, ink sacs, lapis lazuli, and cocoa beans can be substituted for the corresponding dye in any of the following usages unless otherwise specified.bedrock <!--- sections are ordered by craftable dyeable blocks, dyeable items, version exclusive sections, and non-crafting miscellaneous uses--->

Dyeing wool and mobs
Players can dye wool by placing wool and any dye in a crafting grid.

Dyes can be on sheep to change the color of the wool. Shearing a colored sheep drops the corresponding color of the wool, and the sheep retains the color when the wool regenerates. Breeding colored sheep produces a lamb colored as one of the parent sheep, or a color resulting from the combination of both parents' color. The color combining follows the same rules that dyes use – red and yellow sheep produce an orange lamb, but a blue and yellow sheep cannot create a green lamb. The unlimited reproduction of colored sheep makes dyeing and shearing sheep infinitely more efficient than just dyeing wool directly.

Dye can also be used on a tamed wolf or cat to change the color of its collar from the default red to the color of the dye.

Dyeing carpets
Carpets can be dyed.

Banner patterns
Banner#Patterns

Dyes are used in most banner patterns to determine the pattern and color displayed.

Dyeing armor
Leather armor can be dyed by:
* Crafting dyes with a piece of leather armor or leather horse armor.java
* Dousing the leather armor or leather horse armor in a cauldron to which dyes have been added.bedrock

There are 5,713,438 (34.1% of sRGB) colors leather armor can be, as it is possible to put more than one dye on the crafting bench alongside the leather armor. Armor can be dyed multiple times with previous colors affecting the final outcome. Colored armor can be reverted to their original color using a cauldron with undyed water.

The game has a specific formula for calculating the color of dyed armor: each color, in the RGB color model, has a red value, green value, and blue value. For each dye in the crafting grid, and the armor itself (if it is already dyed), the red, green, and blue values are added to running totals. In addition, a running total of the highest value (be it red, green, or blue) is also kept. After this, each total is divided by the number of colors used. This effectively produces the average red, green, blue, and maximum values. The maximum value of the average RGB values is also calculated. Finally, each average RGB value is multiplied by the average maximum value and divided by the maximum of the average RGB values. The modified average RGB values are then used as the final color. This procedure can be summed up with the following equations:
for each color (all "total" variables start at 0 before counting):
  totalRed = totalRed + redValue
  totalGreen = totalGreen + greenValue
  totalBlue = totalBlue + blueValue
  totalMaximum = totalMaximum + max(redValue, greenValue, blueValue)
  numberOfColors = numberOfColors + 1

averageRed = totalRed / numberOfColors
averageGreen = totalGreen / numberOfColors
averageBlue = totalBlue / numberOfColors
averageMaximum = totalMaximum / numberOfColors

maximumOfAverage = max(averageRed, averageGreen, averageBlue)
gainFactor = averageMaximum / maximumOfAverage

resultRed = averageRed * gainFactor
resultGreen = averageGreen * gainFactor
resultBlue = averageBlue * gainFactor

Due to the way this formula works, the resulting color can never be darker than the average of the input colors and is often lighter and more saturated. Of course, the resulting color can never be lighter or more saturated than the lightest or most saturated input color. In addition, this formula never creates an RGB value higher than 255 (which would be invalid in the 8-bit RGB color model).

If leather armor is renamed on an anvil, it retains its name when dyed or undyed.

Dyeing firework stars
A firework star can have a single color or a combination of up to eight colors when crafted with dyes. Adding one or more dyes to a crafted firework star adds a "fade to color" effect to it, overwriting any existing fade colors.

Apprentice, journeyman and expert-level shepherd villagers buy any of the 12 dyes for an emerald.

Color values
The "color codes" are used to determine the color imparted on sheep, wolf and cat collars, firework stars, beacon beams, and dyed leather armor. The hex value is shown in the extended tooltips of dyed leather armor; however, to set the color using an NBT data tag in a command, the decimal value must be used instead. The color values for firework stars are slightly different from the ones listed below, and use these values instead.

* Players can obtain each one of every color with 1 cocoa bean, 2 yellow dye, 2 ink sac, 3 green dye, 4 lapis lazuli, 4 red dye, and 6 bone meal (2 bones).
* The dyed sheep breeding behavior mirrors Lamarck's theory, in which the organisms evolve inheriting the external changes and adaptations of the previous generation, transmitting them to their offspring.
* In Bedrock Edition, tertiary colors, along with their regular crafting recipes, can be crafted with primary colors. E.g.: Magenta can be crafted with one rose red and two bone meals.
* The colors of the dyes match the chat colors in color codes except for brown (dye only), light aqua, and gold (color codes only).
* The texture for light blue dye still uses the color from prior to the 1.12 World of Color update.

The End's sky is now a dark shade of purple static instead of the multicolor noise it originally was.

File save location

The End is saved in the same way normal worlds are, but instead of mixing the world files inside the save folder, the files for the End are stored in *Minecraft Folder*/saves/*world name*/DIM1, whereas normal world files are in *Minecraft Folder*/saves/*world name*. Note that DIM1 does not contain its own level.dat, as the same level.dat in the upper folder is used for the Overworld, the Nether, and the End. Also, note that the Nether's folder is "DIM-1".'

Trivia

  • The End—an endless noised sky with a central mass of end stone—appears to be an inversion of the Nether, an endless cave filled with masses of air.
    • Occasionally, smaller islands generate along with the main island. These small islands can even include an Obsidian Pillar.
  • Lava flows faster in the End like it does in the Nether, but only to a distance of 3 like in the Overworld. Water flows at the same speed as in the Overworld.
  • Deleting the DIM1 folder will reset the end. All of the buildings there will be deleted and the Ender Dragon will respawn.
  • The End has its own soundtrack that you can only hear in the End.
