Crafting

Can we please move Crafting back to the "Popular and Useful Pages" Section. Most people who come to this site come here just for that, and it's very hard to find were it is now. The crafting page is especially important for noobs, and if they can find it right away it could frustrate them to the point that they stop playing, honestly it's that important. I don't like it either and so do all my friends who play the game. I can't imagine a topic more deserving of the title "Popular and Useful". When you really think about it crafting is the heart of the game. Discount Flunky

I need help regarding the demo

Hi, I'm interested in getting Minecraft so I downloaded the demo.

I play the demo and then it says it's loading but then the loading screen turns white and the whole window disappeared, I wondered at first if that's suppose to happen so I waited...for 20 minutes, nothing happened.

I've searched for an hour on google for topics about problems like this but I could only find people with lag problems, while I can't even get past the loading screen. I saw a youtube video that helps with a loading screen problem but my problem is different, the one in the video's is the actual game so menu looked different and their window didn't disappear when they loaded it.

Please help me with this problem, it's driving me nuts, I've tried updating drivers, graphic cards etc but none of that has changed anything.

Sky Dimension

Updates

This is a little crazy, but, can some be on here and look at every page, or split it up between your admins, because there is a lot of old info on a lot of pages that have a purpose, but have old info. The Thunderstorm page, and a bunch of pages. And if something is confirmed to be an expansion of a block or item, please make a 'Future' Section, like I did with Pumpkins. Foreign Language Versions

I understand that the foreign language pages are valuable. I actually like the idea, but there's a serious flaw with the current organization system in place for these pages: They clog up the auto-generated pages. Especially the "wanted pages" article.

I know many other Wikis (including Wikipedia and most of the sites on Wikia) use a prepending system to handle this. (en.minecraftwiki, es.minecraftwiki, he.minecraftwiki, etc) This would reduce the stress load on the collector functions and allow persons wishing to contribute to "broken pages" an easier time in finding them. The prepending system is also used on Minecraft Wiki (see Spanish, French, German, Hungarian, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese versions), but only when translations are sufficiently advanced. Well, to be fair, they should all be individually protected anyways. Cascading protection is meant as a fallback, a failsafe in the event of accidental/unintentional unprotection, and there are known issues with cascading protection not applying when used by itself. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 02:32, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

About the relase date

The "Current Release" info

If I were a noob and saw "Current Beta Version: 1.8pre2" I would spam the forums on why my Client won't update from 1.7.3 to it. We need a new entry stating "Current Public Release developement version: 1.8pre2", while the Current Beta Version tell you the version your client should autoupdate to.

Now obviously my tactic to fill that info is not that good considering how long the wording is: it can be made better. You all are smart guys, I'd really appreciate it if you all could find a way to shorten it. UGoBoom 23:24, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Sourcing images

Hey, I'm not sure if this has been discussed. Should all images not created by the user be sourced? Example: :File:DirtSlab.png, from The Word of Notch (notch.tumblr.com/post/220243988/half-sized-blocks-all-dirt-tiles-so-it-kinda). Pages with information not from the game are at least sourced, and unsourced contents are either discussed or removed, so why not images? 1.9 pre release!

nether brick, nether fences, blaze rod, ghast tear, nether wart, two new nether mobs, nether dungeons

For anyone willing to report this to Notch; I've noticed that armor, (full steel was what I was using) since it's new durability, is invalid to the HUD now since I had a full set on and it was showing that I had about 4 armor shards missing. After about twenty minutes of fighting in the Nether, I noticed that I only had my chest and pants left, when my armor said it was practically full. Just a warning for anyone that hasn't run into this issue yet. K12machinima

Wiki Color Scheme

A lot of the big wikis out there have their own color/design scheme, and maybe this one should have them too. I'm not bringing up the idea for the sole purpose of copying or "being up to par" with other wikis, but the Minecraft Wiki is far too valuable and informative to just have a white background with black text. If you're talking about everything outside the content div, then I agree. However it'd be limited to any modifications you can make with vector.css. You wouldn't be able to make a custom skin as Curse would be extremely unlikely to accept it due it making upgrading the wiki more difficult. Before I found out about that I even started working on a skin based on the minecraft forum skin. I tried to make within the constraints of vector, but it just made it too limited.

Although if you're talking about the content div itself, then definitely not. Black text on a white background is statically the easiest to read, plus it'd break a lot of things. All the gif images' transparency is made for a white background, various vector styling and images are made for a white background, they'd all need to be changed. I believe that the original design intention of Minecraft wiki was to mimic Wikipedia which lead to the decision to stay pretty much with the vector default skin, as well as the Minecraft rendition of a globe for the logo. If enough of the community expressed an interest in redesigning the wiki (say to more closely mimic the Forum) it is something that can be done. Remove classic from version listing?

Classic obviously isn't going to be updated again. Alpha isn't shown on there either, and beta will be replaced by the full release version once it comes out, so I don't see the point in leaving classic there. –ultradude25 ^(T|C) at 19:35, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

If you refer to here we have talked about this some what. Making more of a timeline with each milestone on it to save room on the page. Removing a milestone from the timeline is unnecessary to me. Isn't this the Main page talk? :P If not then why is that page there? And it needs to stay there not because of how many play it, but because it will help advertise every part of the game, classic is an entirely different game to me, because beta introduces so much more to the game. Classic is popular and continues to help grow the beta community.. it should stay in my opinion.

No that's the edit copy, for users to make changes to the page instead of having to ask us to make them.

A prerelease for the Minecraft full version was released sometime late yesterday. A prerelease 2 was also released, they are known as "RC's."

Sounds

Tutorials section not noticeable enough

I think the link to the Tutorials section should be more obvious, so that newcomers don't just create a wiki page in the main article space that's for non-official game content. I already noticed the problem before, but this incident and this one just raised the issue. The authors didn't know that there was a Tutorials section. I really think the Tutorials section should be made more obvious/noticeable otherwise these things will just continue to happen, and perfectly fine guide/tutorial pages will get deleted for no reason. - Asterick6 07:47, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

PC/Computer

Change around those version numbers on Main Page

There is an awesome texure pack called "Dokucraft" every one as been talking about it i got it and it is really sweet. you guys should get it BUT it will also need the HD patcher for it because it is a big pack you will need to get it ion you computer an patch the thing first (it is not a mod) depends it will be different if yyou have a mac or windows but still need the patcher...
