Minecraft storymode on netflix???

Hello, fellow players of Minecraft and Minecraft story mode. I feel like there should be mention of Minecraft story mode being on Netflix. Minecraft story mode is indeed on Netflix, but only the first season. this was added around 2019 (forgot the exact date, since it was a while ago.) can someone please add at least a mention somewhere? --72.175.20.43 07:13, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In that TV series, specifically in episode 5 of its first season, it was mentioned that a hacker made zombie pigmen for Minecraft (the series is set in Marvel Cinematic Universe, a reality that drastically differs from ours). Is this enough to warrant a mention in Minecraft#References in popular culture? — Agent Nick the Red37 (talk · contribs) f.k.a. Naista2002 16:39, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Forget it. It doesn’t. — Agent Nick the Red37 (talk · contribs) f.k.a. Naista2002 05:38, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Seriously??? No mention of M$ ???

Guys... There is virtually no mention of Microsoft on this page, and according to the opening paragraph ..."originally created by Markus "Notch" Persson, and now maintained by his company Mojang AB. " ... "His company" ??? ... I wish it were not true also, but maybe this page should reflect reality. MrN9k (talk) 08:10, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Do not worry. I just updated the page to reflect said changes. Better? GunslingerN7Talk

Theoretical film vs. Future film

User:MarioProtIV You recently changed the name of the film from "Future film" to "Theoretical film". I believe that you are wrong on this because the movie has already been confirmed making it not "Theoretical" and therefor just in the future. Wolffillms (talk) 15:24, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Putting in my 2¢. Mario is actually correct on this one. Theatrical means acting, actors, or the theater (in this case, a movie theater). -BDJP (t|c) 15:49, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
I suppose you are right about "Theatrical" (thought it said Theoretical), however naturally any film will be "Theatrical" making "Future film" still a better title. Wolffillms (talk) 16:08, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
I don’t think “theatrical” is that much of a necessity. Also, a film may be non-theatrical (i. e. a TV film), so the topic is quite fluid. Re “theoretical”: MarioProtIV is just having some issues with English. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 17:03, 30 August 2015 (UTC) with further edits
P. S. Actually you can just use both adjectives: “Future theatrical film”. Problem solved. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 17:05, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Merge "Other Editions" and "Platforms" sections.

As there is no point in having two sections talking about the other Editions/platforms. Wolffillms (talk) 22:15, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Agree: Most of the information is redundant or would be better off with the other. I would agree to combining them under the title "Platforms" KnightMiner t/c 23:10, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Notch's removal of his Minecraft progress videos

Notch's Minecraft videos (if not all of his videos) have been deleted mysteriously. What are we going to do? I ask because the "Development" section of the page relies on inline citations that lead to the videos about the progress of Minecraft, and since those videos have been deleted the citations have become "Dead links" of sorts. Anybody got any ideas or any workarounds? ~GunslingerN7 Oak Sign Paper Diamond

Reducing the program template

The program template (the one on the right side of the page with the authors etc) is ridiculously long and I think that now we've moved all the respective editions to their own pages, we can greatly simplify the template. Personally I think we only need to keep the Platforms section, License, Links and maybe in the Authors section link to Mojang AB. GoandgooTalk

Is the ACB rating correct?

It really surprises me that the Bedrock Edition is rated "M" in Australia. Is this information really correct and if it is, does anybody know why it has such a high rating? As far as I know, Minecraft doesn't contain any sort of mature content. 194.251.19.21 08:28, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

It's based on this page on the website of the Department of Communications of Australia, so I see no reason why it would not be correct. The only reason given is "violence" which is kinda strange indeed, as Minecraft doesn't really have that realistic violence, but maybe Australians just happen to have higher standards on video game ratings. Minecraft is referenced in Fortnite

In Fortnite: Battle royale, the 1 HP emoticon is a reference to Minecraft, since it looks exactly like the Minecraft's health bar. This probably should be added to the "References in popular culture" section. 85.76.73.204 10:11, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

That's just a generic pixel art heart. It doesn't even look like Minecraft's, which has a single pixel of shine, instead of the two in that image. It's not a reference to Minecraft unless the developers have specifically said that it is. MajrTalk

Minecraft has been referenced in a lot of things; a section on this article isn't the appropriate place to collect them beyond an illustrative sampling. Split proposal

JivanZa has proposed to split Minecraft into "Minecraft (franchise)" for the following reason:

Media, Other games, and Merchandise should be moved to the proposed article as this article is meant to just be about the game in general as it says below.

Video game cruft

The list of "in popular culture" video games has too many references to fan-based youtube videos. I disagree that this should be an exhaustive list in which any game that happens to mention or briefly show something from Minecraft should be listed. I also disagree that we should be driving traffic to random youtubers who are not official sources.

We need some criteria for inclusion here. I propose a guideline for a game to be listed here, it must meet all of these criteria:

  • The game is notable. A proxy for notability would be the game having its own stand-alone article in Wikipedia's article space.
  • A non-self-published (independent) review of the game mentions the Minecraft connection, or the connection to Minecraft is a prominent feature of the game that is obvious to anyone playing it, not a trivial brief appearance or unnecessary feature.

Thoughts? Amatulic (talk) 04:59, 1 May 2022 (UTC)

I don't know, even Wikipedia (the pae that you mention a lot) has pages that do list references exhaustively (even pretty small ones), so I'm unsure, because youtube videos are mostly the only way to verify those facts, but I kinda agree that we need some kind of guideline, ot moving the info to a new page or subage. Supeika (talk) 06:44, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
Well, right now we have no guideline. I could write a game and make it available on my blog, and if it includes any Minecraft reference, nothing prevents me from listing it in this article with a youtube link to a video that a friend of mine recorded while playing it. I'm sure everyone would agree that this wouldn't be acceptable, because my game isn't notable and it wasn't reviewed in any reliable source.
If a game has its own article on Wikipedia, that's a reasonable indication of notability, although it isn't guaranteed (if the references don't constitute significant coverage by reliable sources that are independent of the game, then the article could be deleted). But the existence of a Wikipedia article would be the easiest initial filter.
Are there any objections to the guideline I described above? Amatulic (talk) 06:37, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Even if the reference is pretty notorious, who would be the one who records it? Sure, small youtubers probably aren't notorious, but sometimes they are useful precisely for this. I can't really agree with removing references from here since I don't have any particular issue with them. The only thing I would agree is removing references to small youtubers, and doing a proper research to find more reasonable sources, and even then I'm not very convinced, but it could be done. I don't think we should use Wikipedia completely to create the policy, because after all we aren't them, and if we don't list the references, which place would be the one listing them? I agree that if you publish a game and you put a minecraft reference it doesn't mean that it should get added here, that's why I only would agree with the first point "The game is notable" and nothing else. Supeika (talk) 13:58, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
I am not suggesting using Wikipedia to create the policy. I am just suggesting two things:
First, the game should be notable, meaning it has received significant coverage in a reliable source that is independent of the game; basically coverage by an actual reviewer. That would qualify the game to be listed here. If the article is listed on Wikipedia, well, then Wikipedia has already done the work investigating notability. My suggestion to use it was just as an easy rough filter. The notability criterion I suggest is weaker than Wikipedia's, which requires multiple sources.
Second, I am suggesting that the game's reference to Minecraft needs to be a significant feature of the game, or at least mentioned by a reviewer in the first criterion. Just because someone happens to discover a picture of Notch that appears briefly for a fraction of a second and publishes a video on youtube about it doesn't mean it qualifies for listing here.
I am suggesting this because it's basically trivia that is growing without bound, and I strongly object to triva sections being the dominant content of an article. Amatulic (talk) 20:13, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

This Article contains too much information

This Article is trying to archive too many details about the game. Things like listing every source of damage and every mob in the game seems unnecessary. After all, that's what this wiki is for. Ultimately, you could put every detail found in the wiki on this page. I think some consideration should be put into what information actually needs to be on this page. I believe it should really only be meta information about the game (i.e. it's creator, the Microsoft purchase, etc.) Vscheffler (talk) 21:43, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

Kind of a double standard there because you are the one that is adding information and now all of a sudden you claim that it’s "too many details"… BDJP (t|c) 22:00, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
It's a fair point, I did add a lot of the mob information. However, the damage sources were all already there. In fact, I removed some of them while converting it into a bulleted list. I think my point still stands though. This article contains too many details about the game (even after you reverted my edit). The problem with having all these details on this page, is that it lags behind the actual pages for these details. Further, it can fully contradict the pages where these details should exist. For example, the article states "... eating rotten flesh will give the player a hunger effect, while eating raw chicken has a chance of giving the player a hunger effect." This just isn't right, both items "have a chance" of giving the effect. If this page was slimmed down, we wouldn't have these inconsistencies as the information is only be stored in one place. I appreciate your response, but I don't think it invalidates the fact that this page is bloated.Vscheffler (talk) 22:31, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
