Greek, Bulgarian

It has many projects about translation but it doesn't have a german translation project, i just want to ask for help from someone who can start a project for that because i´m new and can´t start such a big project

Wiki in Serbian

Hello, I just signed up to ask if it's possible for me to start a new project in Serbian (which, being a Serbo-Croatian language, is well understood in at least four countries in the Western Balkans: Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia). My intention is to translate (and adjust accordingly) all of the core articles, as well as to maintain them in the future. I have some experience in wikis, good knowledge of English and Serbian languages, software programming background, and of course ample interest in Minecraft. I cannot guarantee a large community and whatnot, but I'm hoping that, in terms of Minecraft popularity, the Western Balkans is not an exception from the rest of the Europe/World. Besides, a dedicated multilingual wiki should have a positive effect on Minecraft's widespread cultural influence, especially in the non-English-speaking countries. --Orionsyndrome 10:57, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

You are free to create the project if you wish. Just so you know the subdomain will not be created until it has been demonstrated that there is enough commitment to continue and maintain it ongoing. Thank you for such quick response. I will start immediately, and do my best at getting some help soon. Now if I only had a way to create the project page itself. I tried searching for this (non-existing) page, or entering its URL directly, but creating a new page from scratch seems to be disabled. Lithuanian translation

Hello there I am hardcore minecraft fan! I am from Lithuania. I'd like to translate wiki to Lithuanian language because there is alot of lithuanian players around all the minecraft. Confusion

Is it just me, or is the entire wiki becoming more and more confusing? It seems with every update that comes, the site gets a little more confusing. There are more and more people coming to report things as the game grows and progresses, there needs to be a better system to keep people from posting the same thing more than one and creating useless pages. I honestly feel that someone should take the time to start from scratch and create a better system for getting info out to the users. The wiki is great, but cluttered and confusing. I don't understand how to create a new project. On the wiki page it just says "make a new project". sorry if it seems stupid or there's something i don't know but i think it should be clearer

Minecraft Cat Research

I would like to create a project giving further research about the cats of Minecraft. (Ocelots, Tabby`s Saimese and Tuxedo). We would give further information about the cats of Minecraft, discover behaviours, and more! I dont think I have 1o edits but I think Ive been on the wiki for over three days. Can I get started?

HEYYY!! I'm hoping you can help me!! I had a Minecraft account since last year but never really used it because my laptop broke. I just got an new HP laptop yesterday and tried downloading the game. It said it downloaded but it hasnt been working. My friend ended up transferring his files for his game to mine today, but it still doesnt work! No one can figure out what is wrong. It's a new computer, recently downloaded Java...so I'm completely lost If youu can help me PLEASE let me know!!! [♥] [:)]

• It could be that you don't have enough RAM. If this is the case a RAM upgrade will fix this issue. If it doesn't then your OS may not be able to support the game. This may the case if you are running Windows 7; if this is the case you will need a 3rd party client. • Maybe your Graphic card needs update or maybe like Ichi said is that you don't have enough RAM . But I think is that you don't have the Graphic card updated , I'm running it on

Why don't we make a language.minecraftwiki.net for everylanguage instead of icludings ome languages in the english wiki

well that's my question, cause i think that if for example including the czech the wiki is getting messed up.

So can anyone explain why thsi happens with some languages???

Macedonian translation

That entirely depends on what the project is. A lot of project pages are just to there to organise people and tell them what needs to be done, and the products of those projects reside elsewhere, either new pages, parts of existing pages or even sub-pages of the project page.

I would think in most cases the project page should stay where it is once it's completed, and it is then locked and preserved for history. However with projects like the style guide, the style guide was the project page, so it of course moved, leaving nothing but a redirect. –ultradude25 ᐸ Talk

Sprite links

Not all sprite icons link to the block they represent. In example, somebody adds a sprite called "enchantment-table" and that doesn't exist. Should we create redirects for all the names of sprites. (Maybe not for the numbers.) Half of the numbers are actually linked, other half unlinked. Just an idea for a project. Template translation?

I wonder, do templates require translations too? In some templates, translations are deleted with the reason "Do not translate templates", but in other templates it is not deleted. Some templates like Blocks template, IMO, need translation. FunAlways (talk) 13:46, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Versioning inconsistencies

The versioning information in the majority of pages are wildly inconsistent - there are Classic, Indev, Infdev, Alpha, Beta, Halloween Updates, versions, dates and snapshots... The last two are the most evil and problematic, because you have to look up the complete changelog to know which version it corresponds to.

For the above, I suggest having a template for inline version notations, maybe something like {{version}}, where you can input snapshot notations and have the template look up the appropriate version.

Besides that, there are pages that are not written to be period-independent, with too many "As of <some very old snapshot number here>". If the editors have even a bit of foresight, they should write it as "From/since <version/snapshot, in this order>" and then the article wouldn't become out of step with the current time that soon. I also notice pages that go in depth in explaining deprecated game mechanics, and only one sentence at the end of the paragraph briefly mentioning the current (if not already deprecated) game mechanics -- with the "As of <snapshot>" wording.

There are also widely-spotted occurrences of only a number notation WITHOUT clearly mentioning the dev phase (e.g. only "1.8", and not "beta/version 1.8"). These may have been written at the time when MC is still in beta, but now that the official release is hitting larger revision numbers it overlaps with these older notions. It's certainly possible to guess whether it's referring to beta or version from the content, but the ambiguity is unnecessary, and mostly be misleading to someone unfamiliar with the development history of Minecraft. 103.1.69.151 19:47, 16 January 2014 (UTC) (same guy again, still without account)

You'll have to have someone else look at the first entry (I read it three times and still don't understand.) However, I agree with you on the fact that versioning is inconsistent. Usually, the number notation has a link that will tell you which version it is (either Beta or Release), but you have to go in and actually look at the linked page to find out which it is. Sometimes, though, it does specify.

If you really want this to be fixed (I do too), we can set up a Project where we simply look all around and ask others to link any pages they find with confusing version notations in that project. We can then go around and fix them all. It's a simple idea, but I think it'd be worth it.

Latvian Language

Hello! I would like to translate the wiki to Latvian. I would like to translate it because.. well.. if you have more languages it is better. And every language needs to be here, because Minecraft is played everywhere. So I would like to help, but is it possible (am I allowed to)?

Anvil projects?

This page is about large projects affecting many articles, while that project is a single user's project affecting two articles. Basically, that is way too small of a project to require a any more than one person (though others may help if wanted) –KnightMiner · (t) 15:55, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Wanted Pages

Is there any way to clean up the wanted pages list so that pages needed for each of the languages go into their own wanted page? Bill123412 (talk) 10:50, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Not without rewriting the code for the special page (there may be an extension for that, there may not be). The main issue here is that the translation projects are hosted on the English wiki until completed, and MediaWiki was never really designed to use more than one language variant. –KnightMiner · (t) 15:42, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
