The admin noticeboard is one way through which users can notify administrators of issues needing administrative attention. While users are welcome to directly contact specific administrators (especially if they are seen to be active), posting here can be an easier and quicker way of ensuring that at least one admin will notice an issue and respond to it promptly. Remember to sign (using four tildes: ~~~~
) when posting an issue.
Before posting an issue here, please consider the following:
- This page is for reporting wiki issues. Please post any discussions on the community portal talk page.
- Post only issues that require administrative action, i.e. blocking vandals, protecting pages, restoring deleted pages etc.
- Do not post deletion requests here; instead, the page should be tagged for deletion.
- Do not post issues regarding content disputes. Try making a request for comment instead.
- Mediation requests between users should only be made once a resolution could not be reached between users.
- For issues regarding the use of this wiki, please see our help center.
- For issues with filters preventing edits from being saved: filters are not able to be disabled for specific people. However, an admin may be able to perform the edit themselves for you. "New user" filters expire after you log in and make some edits around the wiki.

In case of vandalism, posting about it here is low priority. Revert it first, anyone can do so. If the vandal created a new page, tag it for speedy deletion. Assume good faith and consider leaving a message on that user's talk page to explain the reason. Post here only if the user has made several disruptive edits and/or persists despite a warning. Always avoid a revert war with the vandal; it is far better to wait until an admin has a chance to intervene.
If a user must be reported here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{vandal|Example user}} Your concise reason (e.g. vandalised past 4th warning). ~~~~
in the Block requests section.
If a protection or unprotection request must be requested here, do not create a new section. Instead, add * {{la|Example page}} '''duration (temporary or indefinite) and protection level''': Your concise reason (e.g. constant spam and vandalism). <nowiki>~~~~
in the Protection requests section.
Please post new topics at the bottom of the page by clicking the "add topic" button above.

PvP Tutorials
I believe that section 6.6.6 (Not recommended Inventories) is not helpful for PvP, as the article repeatedly states that the best armor and weapons available should always be used. This article, which demonstrates several builds with low attack and defense power, should be deleted as the rest of the article (Including the first few sections) tells players what to bring to PvP.

Improvement to Template:Info needed
This may be worth the admins' attention: I've just added support for a parameter to Template:Info needed. If a parameter is present, it will appear as a tooltip when the words "more information needed" are hovered over, and those words will have a dotted underline. The idea is that people can specify "more information needed about..." without having to refer you to the talk page. Seahen (talk) 01:36, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
- It does not really needed to be posted here, as this board is to report issues that require administrator assistance, rather than for seeking administrator approval (which for the most part does not need happen, we do community approval instead on this wiki (though for something this small, approval is not really required unless you are removing used feature)). –KnightMiner · talk 03:49, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Adding links to http://crafting-guide.com ?
I've been working on a project to make it easier to deal with complex recipes, and I recently finished adding all the core Minecraft recipes. The gist of the site is that you tell it what item(s) you want to make, and it will figure out all the raw ingredients you need along with step-by-step instructions for any number of whatever items you like. For example, here's how you make 16 potions of healing II and fire resistance (with extended duration).
The maintainers of many of the mods I've added (e.g., BuildCraft / Applied Energistics) have found it useful to include links to Crafting Guide in their official documentation, and I was hoping you would think it a good idea to add links from this wiki to CraftingGuide as well. I'd be happy to do the work of adding the links myself, but I'd like to make sure there are no objections first!
Thanks! Andrew Miner (talk) 20:54, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Tutorial and mod content is not covered in main pages. Vanilla recipes are quite simple and this tool doesn't provide much of a benefit for them over just looking at the recipes on the wiki, and as for mods: any decent modpack will have NEI installed, which gives in-game help on what patterns and materials are needed to make things, so I don't see it being particularly useful for anything but the most complex multi-stage recipes. –Majr ᐸ Talk

Can we whitelist ask.fm from the spam filter? Marc uses it to answer various questions, some of which relate to Minecraft or his page on the wiki. (his username is "Marc_IRL" there, see his twitter for a source) –KnightMiner · talk 16:04, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, whitelisting it would simply require adding the domain to MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist, assuming the blacklist works by combining the sources, then making exceptions via the whitelist. Otherwise, the entry in MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist may need to be modified to match fewer strings (I did notice it does not use
$
to match the end of a domain name specifically...) - One last option would be an admin simply unhiding the source from Marc Watson. –KnightMiner · talk 01:22, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

- It would probably make sense to make it a rule, really. While people generally follow etiquette in regards to talk pages, that isn't enforceable and can result in abuse, such as in the case here where BDJP007301 would rather pretend a topic doesn't exist rather than discuss it. The other issue of abuse is where someone has been warned about something they shouldn't do. If they just remove the message then it won't be so obvious that they have continued to do the same thing with subsequent warnings. –Majr ᐸ Talk

- Moved from User talk:Majr#Directors by NickTheRed37 at 13:38, 1 March 2015 (UTC).
This is the topic to inform of changing the MCW:Directors page and adding/removing director rights. Please don’t take this as a duplicate of Former admins and MCW:Directors above, because this topic allows to inform of that in a much more organized manner.

- The directors page doesn't display activity. If they still have admin rights, then they should still be on the directors page. Also, this belongs on the admin noticeboard. –Majr 08:31, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

Fish removed from "Mentioned Features"?
Should fish be removed from the mentioned features page? It seems fish should be updated or deleted from that page since the info is not up to date. -missymoox2 –Preceding undated comment was added at 23:29, 02 March 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- The information is fully up to date, as fish mobs were never added. Even if it were not up to date, it would not get deleted, you can instead update it yourself.
- Also, this hardly requires administrative attention, it should really be on Talk:Mentioned features. –KnightMiner · (t) 23:51, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
Minecraft Forums interwiki
Since the Minecraft forums changed their design, their links also changed, and while old style links are still compatible, it is impossible to locate the old style links from the new forum design. As such, two of the old Minecraft Forum interwikis (mcf and mcftopic) are obsolete. The news links appear unchanged.
The new url consists of first http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/
(note the addition of the "s"), then base on the type it contains the following:
- Sub-forums use a specific combination of letters and dashes
- Topics use any combination of letters and dashes followed by a slash, then the topic ID
A solution would be changing mcf
to http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/$1
and mcftopic
to http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/topic/$1, though this would break previous links. The only other solution would be adding one or two new interwiki links.

Talk page text
The talk page text needs to be updated to display the new forums for other editions and the new places to report issues. It would be easier to simply transclude {{talknotice}}
onto the page though. –KnightMiner · (t) 01:00, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
