This article is about the Classic world type in Console Edition. For the PC development version, see Classic.

Classic is a world type exclusive to the Console Edition.

Generation

Classic world type selected in the World Options menu.

Classic worlds generate finitely (due to the lack of infinite worlds in Console Edition), with an area of 864×864 blocks (less than 1 Map). An endless sea of water preceded by an invisible barrier surrounds the edge of the world.

Classic worlds are able to generate with any of the biomes (albeit at a reduced size) and generated structures available in the current version. More villages will attempt to generate in classic than other world types.

Availability

Classic worlds are the only world type available on the Xbox 360 Edition, the PlayStation 3 Edition, the Playstation Vita Edition, and the Wii U Edition. The Xbox One Edition and the PlayStation 4 Edition have additional options, including Small, Medium, and Large world types that a Classic sized world can be expanded into.

History

Legacy Console Edition
TU1CU1 1.0 Patch 1Added the Classic world type
CU6 1.11 Added World Resize option to expand smaller sized worlds into larger sized ones (Xbox One & PlayStation 4 Only)
