A woodland mansion is a massive systematically-generated structure found in dark forests, often far away from the world spawn point. A mansion is inhabited by evokers, vindicators and allays, and is one of the only places where a totem of undying can be obtained. Besides illagers, a mansion's interior lighting is sufficiently low for other Overworld monsters to spawn. Woodland mansions can only spawn every 20,000 to 10,000 blocks. Some seeds allow mansions to spawn at 1000 - 300 blocks away (1 in 10 million chance of finding one closer than 1000 blocks)
Generation[]
Woodland mansions typically generate thousands of blocks from the spawn point. They can be located with woodland explorer maps, which are obtained from cartographer villagers, but a map may not always point to the nearest one. The nearest woodland mansion may also be located via the /locate structure mansion
command enabled by cheats.
Mobs[]
Allay | Evoker | Vindicator |
A woodland mansion naturally generates vindicators, evokers, and allays inside the mansion, but because the entrance is open and most rooms in the woodland mansion are dark, Overworld monsters sometimes spawn in these rooms or come in through the entrance at night.
The first floor of the mansion may only generate rooms that contain vindicators; from the second floor upward, some large rooms may contain both evokers and vindicators. Neither type of illager spawns directly in the hallways of the mansion, but they often wander into the hallways after spawning in.
Once any of the vindicators or evokers are killed in a woodland mansion, they do not respawn, unlike pillagers, who respawn when all of them are killed in a pillager outpost.
Structure[]
Although their exact structure varies, all woodland mansions have some things in common: they all have three floors with a variety of rooms, and generate a cobblestone foundation underneath the entire structure if there are any gaps between the bottom of the mansion and the ground. The top floor is about half the size of the lower floors, but the size of each top floor is pretty random for each mansion, depending on how many rooms are going to be generated on the top floor. Each mansion includes a large foyer that leads to the corridors connecting the rooms, a giant staircase also generates there, which leads up to the second floor. The foyer is dark and many hostile mobs spawn under the staircase.
Rooms[]
A woodland mansion contains many types of rooms. Because the layout is randomly generated, some room types may not be present. Furthermore, certain rooms within the mansion are not readily accessible – some may have sealed entrances, while secret rooms have no entrances at all.
One may access the individual structures of a woodland mansion by using structure blocks to manually load room structures from the /data/minecraft/structures/woodland_mansion
folder in minecraft.jar. To do so, set a structure block to Load mode, enter woodland_mansion/structure_name
, and press LOAD. A list of possible rooms, the names of these structures, and small descriptions are provided in the table below. Note that the room names are conjectural.
Main and secret rooms[]
A woodland mansion can sometimes generate secret rooms on each floor. A secret room can be one of the following type: "X" room, spider room, fake end portal room, obsidian room, birch pillar room, clean chest room, lava room, and attic room, with the 'X" room being the most common, and the "lava" room being the rarest. A way to look for a secret room is looking for gaps between normal rooms, this way is the best on the first floor, as there are no windows. Another way is looking through the windows through the second and third floors of the mansion, since some secret rooms are exposed to windows. A last way to look for a secret room is cutting down the roof, which works best for the third floor alone. Then you can see any secret rooms from the roof of the floor, as the whole floor's layout.
In the table below, a structure block indicates either a chest with random loot, or the spawn point of an illager.

- ↑ a b The size of stacks (or for unstackable items, number) of this item on any given roll.
- ↑ a b The weight of this item relative to other items in the pool.
- ↑ a b The odds of finding any of this item in a single chest.
- ↑ a b The number of items expected per chest, averaged over a large number of chests.
- ↑ a b The average number of chests the player should expect to search to find any of this item.
- ↑ a b 'Nothing' does not refer to the chance of an empty chest. Instead, it refers to the chance that the random loot generator does not add any loot on a single roll.
- ↑ a b All enchantments are equally probable, including treasure enchantments (except Soul Speed, and Swift Sneak), and any level of the enchantment is equally probable.

It doesn't appear in the creative menu, not even when the option "Operator Items Tab" is enabled, but can be given to the player with <code>/give</code> and other commands. ==Usage== The dupe hack item can be used to create a limited amount of duplicate items by placing it on a crafting table with any other item. It has a random chance of breaking, controlled by the <code>dupe_hack_break_chance</code> vote. This limitation can be mostly bypassed by putting the items in an ender chest first and duplicating the chest. When using the Dupe Hack, it has a random chance of breaking, which is often decided by votes. ===Crafting ingredient=== ==Data values== ===ID=== java: ==History== java foot items Jokes <references /> ja:Dupe Hack pt:Dupe Hack</li></ul> | September 25, 2016 | The woodland mansion, a "procedurally generated house", was first revealed at MineCon 2016. 1.18Extension DPL<ul><li>Kelp<br/>the plant For Kelp is an underwater plant that generates in most oceans. == Obtaining == === Natural generation === Kelp naturally generates in any ocean biomes (except in frozen, deep frozen and warm), near and around seagrass. Each chunk has 1 chance to generate a vegetation of kelp. === Breaking === Kelp can be mined instantly with any tool or with the player's fist. Removing water from the kelp block destroys the kelp. Breaking one part of a kelp stalk destroys all kelp blocks above it. Each block drops a kelp item. === Trading === Kelp can be bought from wandering traders for 3 emeralds. == Usage == Kelp can be placed underwater by hand, or anywhere by the use of commands such as setblock. Placing it by hand gives it a random age value between 0 and 24. Kelp can be placed only in water source blocks or downward-flowing water, not horizontally flowing water. When placed in downward-flowing water, the flowing water transforms into a water source block, which is useful for faster bubble column elevator creation. Any building block can be placed on top of a kelp plant, which is useful for building structures over a deep ocean without needing to build from the ocean floor (see also lily pad). === Cooking ingredient === === Composting === Placing kelp into a composter has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1. === Growth mechanics === Kelp can be planted on a broad variety of blocks. It grows underwater if it has either a source block of water or, Java, flowing water above it. Neither players nor dispensers can remove the water source block that kelp grows in without breaking the kelp first. Kelp does not require any light level to grow. Kelp also grows without having sky access. Bone meal can be used to grow kelp by 1 block on each use. Kelp, when planted, is generated with a randomly chosen age value, which can be checked when pressing <kbd>F3</kbd>java. The age value of a newly planted kelp plant varies randomly from 0 to 24. Each time the kelp grows in height by one block, the newly generated top of the kelp plant increases its age by 1. When the top block of the kelp plant reaches an age of 25, it stops growing. This means that kelp can naturally grow to a height between 2 (if the first kelp plant had an age of 24) and 26 blocks (if the first kelp plant had an age of 0). When a kelp plant block is broken, the age of the kelp plant block underneath is randomized to a value from 0 to 24 and the kelp continues growing until it reaches age 25. It is possible to use this mechanic to cultivate a kelp plant to increase its growth height beyond its natural maximum height of 26 blocks. This can be done by breaking the top-most block of the kelp plant each time it reaches age 25. A kelp plant cultivated by a player in this way repeatedly grows until it reaches the water surface. Each time it receives a random tick, kelp has a 14% chance of growing. If shears are used on the topmost block of kelp, that block automatically sets its age value to 25 and stop growing.JE === Farming === Tutorials/Kelp farming Kelp farming is similar to farming sugar cane, although kelp must be placed underwater. Cave vines are a climbable, bonemealable plant that hangs off ceilings and grows glow berries. Cave vines with glow berries produce light and drop glow berries when broken or harvested. Cave vines with no glow berries will not drop anything. == Obtaining == === Natural generation === Cave vines can be found in lush caves, hanging from cave ceilings. === Chest loot === glow-berries === Post-generation === Glow berries can be collected from a cave vine by using or breaking the vine. This yields one glow berry when the vine is bearing them and nothing when it is not. A cave vine also breaks if water runs over its location or if a piston extends or pushes a block into its location. bedrock, using a tool with Silk Touch on cave vines always yields a glow berry, even if the vine appears empty. Fortune has no effect on the number of glow berries dropped. == Usage == === Placement === Glow berries can be placed on and grown from the bottom of most blocks. They have no specific lighting requirements. When placed, they can be of any length. === Growth === Placing glow berries on the bottom of a block creates a cave vine that grows downward one block at a time as long as air is beneath it and its maximum height (2 to 26 blocks) has not been reached. Each newly-grown cave vine block has a 1 in 9 chance of bearing glow berries. Only this tip can ever naturally grow them.JEexact growth rate and chance to bear glow berries Using bone meal on a cave vine produces glow berries if the vine was not bearing any. Java, cave vines stop growing if shears are used on the tip. bedrock, if placing glow berries in the Nether, cave vines are able to grow and produces glow berries. === Food === To eat glow berries, press and hold use while it is selected in the hotbar. Eating one restores 2 hunger and 0.4 hunger saturation points, like sweet berries. === Light === When bearing glow berries, cave vines give off a light level of 14. === Composting === Placing glow berries into a composter by using them on it has a 30% chance of raising the compost level by 1. === Breeding === Glow berries can be fed to foxes to breed them. Foxes are similar to cats when being fed as a wild animal; a sudden movement by the player may cause the fox to flee even if the player holds glow berries. The resulting baby fox trusts the player and does not flee. In Creative mode, the player can press pick block on an existing mob to obtain their respective egg. Spawn eggs are also available in the Creative inventory. There are 77 spawn eggs bedrock and 75 spawn eggs java. == Usage == A spawn egg is used by pressing use on any surface (top, bottom, or side) with the egg. When used on a top surface, the egg's mob appears with its feet immediately adjacent to the surface, and its ambient sound is played. Spawn eggs are not thrown (unlike normal eggs); the player must be within normal range of the block to use the spawn egg. Ocelot and all monster mobs (except shulkers, piglins, hoglins; and in Bedrock Edition, also include vindicators, evokers, zoglins, piglin brutes) spawned while on Peaceful difficulty get created and immediately deleted from the world. The surfaces of blocks are prioritized for spawning; if none are within reach, mobs can also be spawned in water. === Dispensers === A spawn egg fired from a dispenser spawns the mob directly in front of the dispenser. The spawn egg is consumed when fired. === Baby mobs === If the player uses a spawn egg on the type of mob it spawns, and that mob has a baby form, the egg spawns a baby version of the mob. In mobs that can breed, the baby is created by breeding the clicked mob to itself. For instance, using a sheep spawn egg on a sheep makes a baby sheep with the same wool color.java Other mobs such as evokers, vindicators, vexes, piglin brutes, ravagers, phantoms, skeletons, pillagers, creepers and wither skeletons do not have a baby variant, so the egg still spawns an adult. === Monster spawners === All spawn eggs can also be used on a monster spawner to change the mob the monster spawner spawns. bedrock, spawn eggs for any of the fish mobs spawn them only if the monster spawner is waterlogged. === Renaming === A spawn egg can be renamed on an anvil, and when used it spawns a mob with that name appearing over its head. The name can be seen only by aiming at the mob from four or fewer blocks away. This name also appears in death messages from the mob killing a player. If the player renames a spawn egg by the names described below, the mob appears described below. If the player renames a rabbit spawn egg "Toast", the secret skin of the rabbit appears when the egg is used. Naming a spawn egg "Dinnerbone" or "Grumm" causes the mob to appear upside down and show the given name above it. Renaming a vindicator "Johnny" causes it to act hostile to all mobs except for other illagers. Renaming a sheep "jeb_" makes the sheep's wool color cycle in a rainbow loop. This doesn't change the color of the wool the sheep drops. Renaming a spawn egg of a hostile mob with an anvil and then spawning the hostile mob with the renamed spawn egg does not prevent the hostile mob from despawning, unlike using a name tag on the mob. === Survival mode === Mobs can be spawned with spawn eggs in Survival mode, but spawn eggs are not obtainable in Survival without cheats; they can be obtained only using the Creative menu or commands. Unlike normal TNT it can detonate instantly under certain conditions and its damage and blast radius is increased by its speed when it detonates. == Obtaining == === Crafting === Minecarts with TNT can be retrieved by attacking them, and by doing so it drops as an item. == Usage == A minecart with TNT detonates after a delay on these conditions: * It moves over a powered activator rail. * It is destroyed while in motion (except by a player in Creative mode). * It is destroyed by fire, lava, or an explosion. *java, it is hit by a fire charge. The delay is 4 seconds for an activator rail, like the TNT block. For other causes there is a random delay between 0 and 1.9 seconds, but more likely to be close to 1. It detonates instantly on these conditions: * It hits the ground with a downward velocity of it falling more than three blocks, unless landing on any form of rail. * It turns on a curved track too fast, with a solid block or entity located beside the track (in the previous movement direction). * It is hit by a flaming arrow. * It is pressed into a block or entity and has velocity. Upon detonation it acts as normal TNT, exploding and damaging nearby blocks, players, and entities. Upon detonation after activating on activator rail, it does not destroy its rails and the blocks the rail is on, however other nearby carts can.java More than one minecart can be placed on the same rail block, allowing many of them to fit into a single block. They explode when touched, dealing large amounts of damage. The explosion has a base power of 4, the same as regular TNT, but the game also adds a random bonus value up to 1.5 times velocity, but no higher than 7.5. This means that with a speed of 5 or higher the power will be a random value between 4 and 11.5. When triggered by an activator rail or by damage, the bonus value is calculated using the horizontal velocity of the minecart. When hit by a flaming arrow the velocity of the arrow is used instead. When triggered by fall damage, the fall distance divided by 10 is used. Minecarts with TNT bounce off of other minecarts and cannot be linked to minecarts with furnaces. == Sounds == Java:<br> Minecarts with TNT use the Friendly Creatures sound category for entity-dependent sound events. Bedrock: == Data values == === ID === java: bedrock: === Entity data === Minecarts with TNT have entity data associated with them that contain various properties of the entity. java: Entity format bedrock: : See Bedrock Edition level format/Entity format. == Video == <div style="text-align:center">1yNgY913tps</div> == History == java {{History||1.12|snap=1.12-pre6|No longer instantly explode when hit with fire charges; When lit, the sparkler emits colored particles; the durability meter depletes while the sparkler is burning. Sparklers are one of the few items that can be held in the off-hand be. Unlit sparklers have normal lighting like most items, while lit sparklers appear to glow when held in the player's hand, similarly to glow sticks. When the player uses another item while a sparkler is lit, or holds the sparkler in the off-hand, the sparkler's durability stops depleting. If the player has a lit sparkler in their inventory and goes into the water, the sparkler is destroyed immediately. However, it does not get destroyed if dropped in water. It also cannot float. Despite having durability, sparklers cannot be enchanted with Unbreaking or Mending. == Sounds == == Data values == === ID === == History == bedrock education foot == Issues == issue list == Trivia == * The formula for sparkler roughly works in real life. Trivia[]
- Woodland mansions were added as a way to implement illagers, the main antagonists of the then-developing game Minecraft Dungeons, into the base game of Minecraft, providing them with a place to live.[5]
- Woodland mansions were intended to be inhabited by more hostile mobs following their release, according to the blog post Meet the Vindicator.[6] No new hostile mobs were added to woodland mansions since then.
- The blog post was likely alluding to the illusioner, an illager that was added in the World of Color update, but ended up not being implemented in woodland mansions (or anywhere in Survival gameplay).
