Profile[]

Hello,

I noticed that in your profile there is a broken link to this talk page: [minecraft.gamepedia.com/User_talk:Blobs2 my talk page]; the correct way to link here is [[User talk:Blobs2|my talk page]] . Also there is no need for the "recent actions" section (which has broken tags), as the profile automatically contains a "Recent Wiki Activity" box under the profile description :). -Sonicwave (talk|c) 08:26, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

As for that recent actions, I put them there because the thing on the profile doesn't show edit summaries. As for the link, that's  Done. The BlobsPaper 13:06, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

IP talk pages[]

AFAIK, IPs are not allowed to have user talk pages. I do remember a discussion where it did say that. I just can't find it anywhere. BDJP (t|c) 13:18, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

I added a discussion about this. The BlobsPaper 13:44, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Why did you delete the other things I added though if you just wanted to repair the snapshots?[]

I know that you wanted to restore the snaps, but why did you delete all the other info I added? Please restore what you deleted and keep the snaps. I am on mobile so it's hard to undo changes. MinecraftBroJoe (talk) 19:52, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

I wasn't sure if the information was accurate, and it was just easier to undo the whole thing. Also, please reply on your own talk page The BlobsPaper 03:21, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

The books are 3 leather each. 3 x 15 books = 45. It takes one more book to make an enchanting table. That equals 46. Araxidis (talk) 17:11, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't thinking about the enchantment table itself. I just changed it because 46 is not a multiple of three. The BlobsPaper 01:02, 26 August 2016 (UTC)

As for using Add Topic, that may have been my mistake; on the mobile view, it says no edit summary. The BlobsPaper 14:59, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Revert[]

I know you had reverted the Renewable Resource page, but why? I already mention in the summary for removing all the trading-related as trading feature now exist in Pocket Edition.

  • Glass, Lapis, Emerald and Diamonds are no longer non-renewable resource in Pocket Edition by trading.
    • Cause of that, obsidian are now renewable by using a diamond pickaxe.
    • Potions, Dragon's Breath, Bottle o' Enchanting are now renewable.
    • Lapis lazuli is now renewable, you can craft cyan and purple dye using lapis and making them renewable.
    • Emerald is now renewable. ItsPlantseed ItsPlantseed | Book and Quill 08:08, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Prismarine crystals data value[]

Would you be willing to double check how you got that data value for prismarine crystals? Jocopa3 has been compiling the data values here https://gist.github.com/jocopa3/f8c9f9158ede0e9d057781188ba440f5 and it indicates a value of 422. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 14:26, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks. File:DataValuesPE.png was inaccurate. Jocopa3, can you correct it? The BlobsPaper 14:46, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
You know what, that image file is actually correct but confusing: The sprites correspond to the numbers above them, not below them. I had to scroll to the top or the bottom of the image to discover that; it wasn't evident by looking at any specific sprite in the middle. Is there a corresponding svg image on the wiki for this image, along the lines of File:DataValues.svg? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 17:26, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Sorry about the confusing format in the image. When I first made the PE data values image, I had basically copied the original PC data values image and simply moved stuff around. Since then, I've stuck with the exact same format. I can add dashed or dotted lines between each row, or maybe add borders around each cell to make it more obvious as to what goes with what. I've been meaning to convert the chart to SVG like the PC chart, but that's a lot of work. Instead, I may end up making a program which can automatically generate an SVG chart from a list of data values and images and distribute that so others can also update it with ease :) Jocopa3 (talk) 07:08, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
I wonder, is it still worth while to maintain both a data values, and an image that's presenting the same thing? What do you think? I myself don't actually use the data values for anything so I might not be thinking of how people actually use this image and that page. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 21:54, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
I would consider the image useful. It makes the information more compact; readers can find the information that they are looking for quickly without having to scroll down. The question is whether we should keep the table.
As for showing the information, technical information may be useful for modders. The BlobsPaper 00:52, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
I also agree with Blobs2. Maintaining an image version of the table means users can save it on their phones or PC and don't need to go online. The other thing is, many players use inventory and NBT editing apps to hack in items that cannot be obtained in-game even via commands. The inventory system still relies on numerical ID's, so in that regard they're still useful to know and have. It also shows players all blocks/items that are available in-game in a single, compact, and portable source. An SVG version of the chart may be easier to update, but a PNG version of the chart would be more portable. It's easy to write a program that generates both PNG and SVG versions of the chart, so in that regard it shouldn't take that much time to update or maintain it. Jocopa3 (talk) 01:24, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
Oh I definitely don't doubt the value of presenting the data values. I was just wondering if it was double work. It sounds like the image is in demand, okay. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 02:03, 6 March 2017 (UTC)

MCPE-24837 on Jira[]

I noticed you filed this bug report. This is a "works as intended". If I understand what you're saying, you expect the map to be centered on your position when you create it. If maps worked this way, you could create a map, walk 10 blocks, and create another one with a different center point. But then the two maps would cover overlapping areas, so if you put them into adjacent item frames the overlapping part would be duplicated between them. Repeat this with more maps and the combined map would be chaotic to the point of uselessness. To avoid that, you'd have to make sure you only create maps at points exactly 128 blocks apart (for level 0 maps) in the ±x or ±z direction. That would be a real nuisance, so instead the game aligns maps to a grid so there isn't any overlap between them. The alignment is done by centering them on the northwest corner of a chunk. The chunk at (0, 0) is common to all map levels, so there's a level 0 map whose northwest corner is at (-64, -64), a level 1 map whose corner is at (-128, -128), a level 2 map whose corner is at (-256, -256), etc. and they all have the same center at (0, 0). This ensures that zoomed maps will tile properly in item frames, too. If I've misunderstood your bug report I apologize for being pedantic, but otherwise I think this should help you see why MC centers maps the way it does. --– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 05:44, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

So are you saying that there are specific centers for maps, and the system looks for the nearest one? The BlobsPaper 17:00, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
That's exactly what I'm saying, except that there isn't necessarily a nearest one (you could be mid-way between two centers). In that case, the center to the west (X coord) or north (Z coord) is used. Another way to say this is that the center coordinates are calculated by rounding the player's coordinates down (i.e. toward negative infinity) to a multiple of 2 ^ (z+7) where z is the zoom level. So:
For zoom level The center coords are multiples of And the corner coords are offset by
0 128 ±64
1 256 ±128
2 512 ±256
3 1024 ±512
4 2048 ±1024
Hope that helps. --– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 17:58, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
P.S. There's a bug (MCPE-23622) that makes the player marker turn into a dot before you reach the edge of your map. It happens 1 block from the edge for a level 0 map and the distance doubles with each higher zoom level. So there's a "gutter" where the marker is a dot when it should still be a pointer. Especially at higher zoom levels, if you map an area by walking until your pointer changes to the dot and then activate a new map, this can trick you into activating a new one before you've left the old map's area. When you do you just get another copy of the old map, so be sure to walk a few blocks farther before you activate a new map. --– Auldrick (talk · contribs) 18:18, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Patroller right[]

I and other admins have been discussing about the need for more patrollers. Our backlog is currently huge, as we don't have many actively patrolling. Since you're obviously a trusted user and based on your contributions I feel like you could use the rights this comes with for the work you do, I think you'd be a good candidate if you're interested. MCW:Patrollers gives more details on what exactly the user right means and how you should use the tools that come with it. Once you have the right there's no obligation to clear out the backlog regularly or anything; you could just use it occasionally if you happen to come across an edit you know is correct so you patrol it or you happen to come across a vandalism edit and want to quickly rollback it.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 22:50, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

I thinks I can do this. How would I see what edits need to be patrolled? The BlobsPaper 23:04, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
Granted. Like I said, it's not a big deal; you don't need to patrol any kind of amount of pages in any given time. An unpatrolled edit will by default have a red exclamation mark next to it on the recent changes page. You can also select the review status of the filter selection on the recent changes page, allowing you to filter out any patrolled or unpatrolled edits. If you enable the "Show patrol status on history, diff, and revision pages" gadget in your preferences, for those three types of interfaces listed, a red exclamation mark will appear next to any unpatrolled edits, a blue check mark next to any autopatrolled edits, and a green check mark next to any manually patrolled edits.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 00:31, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

Reminder to update when 1.16 comes out[]

I see you have a page User:Blobs2/Renewable resources#Mobs. It's very interesting. However, after the Nether Update, withers (and therefore nether stars) will become renewable. This may be overlooked, so don't forget! PS: Curses are renewable. --MMK21stream (talk) 14:27, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I plan to update the page as soon as the Nether Update fully releases. And I am fully aware that withers will be renewable in this version.
As for curses, all enchantments can be obtained from librarian villagers, so there is not much to say about them. The BlobsPaper 16:17, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Elder guardian boss status[]

Regarding this edit that you made several months ago, what makes elder guardians bosses on Bedrock Edition? The only source I could find was the blog post introducing them, but assuming they behave the same as in Java Edition (i.e. no special behavior besides applying Mining Fatigue, no visible health bar), I personally don't think that's enough to classify them as a boss. There was also a question about this raised on Talk:Elder Guardian. –Sonicwave talk 04:25, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

They were considered a boss mob for the 0.16.0 update, and Minecraft has never said anything about the elder guardian being no longer a boss. So I would still consider it a boss in Bedrock Edition, even though the mob behaves almost exactly the same as on Java. The BlobsPaper 21:09, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
Maybe we can consider them, and the piglin brute to be a mini boss?????????? as they are challenges to a certain structure and contain lots of health, also they are referred to as bosses by speedrun.com---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 21:45, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
I am not sure about considering them a miniboss, as Minecraft has never publicly used this term. The BlobsPaper 23:57, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure mojang never used the term neutral either though.....---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 00:29, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Okay, I would recommend creating a discussion in the community portal. This is something that many users may have opinions about. The BlobsPaper 00:57, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm not sure if anyones going to agree as it's very controversial, neutral is a popular term among community and even popular youtubers but ive never heard of mini-boss, it's just like the only thing i could think of so like it might not even have any support.---Humiebee Discuss anything with me Look at my edits 01:14, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
IDK, either consider the elder guardian a boss or don't. The BlobsPaper 06:11, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Is reputation distinct from popularity?[]

In an edit to Trading yesterday, you added information about how "reputation" affects trades. It sounds like you were referring to Popularity by a different name, but I'm not sure because you describe it as "personal" (hence tied to the individual player, just like popularity) but also particular to a villager. In contrast, popularity is tied to the village, not just a particular villager. Also, you described some actions that can affect reputation in Java Edition, which are also some of the actions that affect popularity in Bedrock, but you didn't mention Bedrock at all in that regard. (You also didn't mention that killing a village's iron golem gives the largest reduction in popularity, but that could be because it's only in Bedrock.) Before I update the section to add Bedrock details, I wanted to know if you made the distinction between reputation and popularity intentionally. — Auldrick (talk) 14:54, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, there is a difference, which is why I did not mention popularity on the Trading page. Reputation is for indivudual villagers. When you cure a zombie villager, you gain a lot of (permanent) reputation from that villager, and you gain a small anount of (temporary) reputation from nearby villagers. Unlike in Java Edition, you do not gain reputation from trading, and you do not lose reputation from attacking or killing a villager, but these factors do affect your popularity. There is really only one effect of popularity: The iron golem attacks you if you reach -15. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions. The BlobsPaper 16:53, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
