Piston Two way elevator issues[]

The two way elevator in no way works on mp, not only do you fall through going up but it stops half way everytime going up & down. There wiring is perfect. A direct copy of the OPs elevator from his video fails the same way in MP. Is there a fix to this?

Piston Doors Videos[]

I removed the second video for piston doors because the video was set to private.

Flashing Light Indicator?[]

So I decided to test eh "flashing light indicator" mechanism and found that it didn't work. Could anyone else confirm whether or not it works for them? We wouldn't want a broken mechanism on the page :\

This "flashing light indicator" is very crude mechanism, so it will flash only few times. If you want make something smoother, you should connect pressure plate to RS NOR gate (don't forget to make reset button), then make a 5-clock (or any other clock, but not Rapid Pulser), then connect output of clock and output of RS NOR to NAND gate, which will be connected to input of torch.
It was only meant to flash a few times, then stop, to negate the need for an off switch. Crude, but imho effective.

Cannons and Boats[]

My brother said when he launches a boat from his cannon it will drop multiple sticks and pieces of wood (way more than normal). Can someone confirm this? Matti-Koopa 14:53, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Is it just me or have they changed TNT so that it is not swept away by water thus making canons much harder to create? Zinob 19:03, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Pictures[]

I feel that pictures of the mechanisms and how they work would be extremely helpful to anyone first learning about these --Magitrek 15:02, 13 December 2010 (CST)

Light Sensors[]

Mentioned light sensors and gave a link. Needs to be explained more thoroughly. Maybe mention light sensors on flower and mushroom wiki pages? Bumber 03:32, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Flower and mushroom pages now mention light sensors and link to this page. Mechanisms page still needs a discription instead of just a link to a forum thread. Bumber 05:26, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

A non villager light sensor should be on the page, like on of these Adi Tetac 14:14, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Retractable staircase[]

Should the retractable staircase shown in the piston demo be included? -[user:kingleonidas1234] 6:45 (MT)

Mod related tutorial removal[]

I think we should remove everything concerning mod pistons. Agree? | TheKax | Talk 10:27, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

I like the idea but I don't think it's drastic enough. Here's another option, we break this page into several pages where the content is specialized rather than a wide-ranging dump of partially completed (cough*abandonded*cough) tutorials. If mechanisms is a subsection of tutorials, what's the point of this page?Qcdynamics 14:39, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree, the attached video is gone, too. it does not concern this article any longer. Turboplant 23:13, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
I also like the idea but agree with Qcdynamics or if this is too complex perhaps a little better system of labeling mechanisms and mayhaps a means of separating them by category or bold headings.24.180.247.121 00:15, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Snow Generator Help[]

I made a Snow Generator but the snowman auto-dies. I have a jungle biome. Any reason why? - Dudebot121256

In 1.2, Snow Golems die in 'hot' biomes (such as jungles and deserts), and don't leave snow in some of the 'warmer' ones (mushroom island, plains, swampland, beach). -- Orthotope 05:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Lots of mobs Alert?[]

Say we used The And Gate to make a torch that flickers on/off when more than 5 pressure plates are pressed? would that be useful? Or do minecrafters not sleep at night?

Piston tape for vertical item transport[]

As seen in this video, a piston tape is used to transport items vertically and then drop them into a water stream. However, due to the piston timing changes that came with 1.3, the design is now broken. From my experimenting in my test world, I've been able to get items to be transported upwards, but they get stuck where they would get pushed sideways at the top and fall into the water stream.

I wish I could give more details of the problem I'm having, but I'm not entirely certain what's causing it. I also think my current, haphazardly constructed, piston tape will need to be completely redesigned to get it to work.

Pictures of my current design: 1, 2, 3 (built in the 12w38a snapshot)

If someone could lend me a hand in troubleshooting it, I would greatly appreciate it. Inquisitribble 12:27, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Diagrams[]

Many diagrams are created with typed symbols, such as: "~ = wire, O= solid block..." etc. These should be replaced with pictures, screenshots, or Redstone schematics. 198.228.201.153 01:24, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Too many videos?[]

Does anyone agree there are perhaps a tad too many videos on this page? I'm just scrolling through on my laptop and this page takes considerably longer than any other wiki page I've visited. I understand a few to express ways of going about building the mechanisms discussed in the article, but not for EVERY subject. I count 50 videos! Gosh, can't we just have a pretty, compact list of the things that are hyperlinked to the Youtube pages? Pretty please? --Keithicus420 08:28, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

I changed all the embedded videos to links, which should help with the page loading time. If someone feels like going through the videos and pruning out redundant/outdated/badly-done ones, it would be much appreciated. Personally, I wouldn't mind getting rid of Youtube entirely and making people use textual descriptions and screenshots/still images. -- Orthotope 10:16, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Just seeing your reply, but thanks, it looks a lot better. I feel Youtube isn't so bad; things can get hard to explain and a short video can get to the point much more smoothly and less confusingly. --Keithicus420 03:52, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Massive TNT cannon[]

I wanted to add a massive cannon that I created of which I had to allocate 4GB of RAM to prevent me from crashing and that could send the player up to layer 7550, but I never got around to. Is telling others the components better than a step-by-step tutorial? 174.114.8.167 00:04, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Mechanisms Slimming[]

Which videos are the least useful to everyone? I would like a consensus of what isn't useful so I can remove some of the videos. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Rcmaehl (talkcontribs) at 01:10, 6 April 2013‎ (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

While I'm not currently reviewing the tutorial videos, can I suggest that some of them might usefully be replaced by Schematics? Writing them up is pretty easy, I transcribed a few videos while doing the Redstone Circuits pages. One warning: if you get a lot of schematics, or big ones, you'll want to move them to (and perhaps split them among) subpages, for the sake of loading time and safe editing. --Mental Mouse 14:54, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Launcher Pads Pictures[]

The pictures in the Launcher Pads section need croping so they can be seen easier. --Cats 55 04:23, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Other X-ray[]

I know another X-ray glitch, but it doesn't use redstone. Do I still put it here, or do I put it on a different page? If so, which?

Removing "Mob Yo-yo" section[]

The Mob yo-yo section does not have anything to do with redstone or restone comonents, rails, etc., therefore it should be removed. Impossybull (talk) 15:16, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

IS IT COOL! (remove it!)

Remove it. However, it does make a novelty technique for keeping mobs from despawning. 108.216.30.138 23:13, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Types of mechanisms[]

Here're types of circuits, but no types of mechanisms. My variation: Door Mechanisms, Sensor Mechanisms, Switch Mechanisms, Elevation Mechanism, Other Mechanisms. 58.35.196.73 12:36, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Remove the Dayforever Tower[]

It's an awful design. You could make it always daytime by just changing the gamerule for daylightCycle to false, or alternatively using a daylight sensor and a redstone torch to invert it to trigger the command block rather than a villager egg dispenser. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 50.39.119.244 (talk) at 6:43, 15 April 2019 (UTC). I removed the section from the page, the design of spawning villagers to their death does seem needlessly complicated and it requires command access anyways. (Note to others that the above IP address wasn't able to remove the section themselves due to an abuse filter.) –Sonicwave talk 06:49, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Split?[]

The page has become a total mess. Many builds on the page should either be split into their own tutorials or incorporated into the existing tutorials on redstone. Any thoughts?--Fadyblok240 (talk) 05:38, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

What happened to all the redstone diagrams?[]

A while back, a bunch of these entries had proper diagrams and everything. Now it's all just annoying video tutorials. There's nothing for someone who just wants to grab a design on the fly and build it without having to go through a long, drawn-out step-by-step tutorial. --142.196.189.39 03:39, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Nobody has made the schematics. I did some of the schematics that are on Mechanics/Redstone/Circuit and subpages; watching a video and writing up a schematic for it is straightforward but picky work. You can look at the examples there to see how it works. However, there is a complication: You'll notice that most of the schematics are set up in separate pages, loaded with ajax or somesuch. That's because large schematics and lots of schematics tend to slow down the browser, and in extreme cases break formatting. (The issue is the total number of cells on a page.) And a lot of those machines will need big schematics. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 03:43, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
