Tables[edit source]

JayiPsionix

I personally think tables look worse, especially for the computer edition. In most cases it simply moves the header from the top to the side, then places it in a hard to see location (centered even on a long table), causing the article to lose readability. Also, if you are going to remove linked to headers, add an {{anchor}} or a {{text anchor}} to replace it. KnightMiner (t|c) 17:25, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Agreed; over the last year we've been moving away from using tables for version history and upcoming features pages. We can discuss other ways to improve the appearance of pages, but this isn't a good use for tables. -- Orthotopetalk 19:27, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Cite notes[edit source]

Cite notes 7 and 8 are the same, and I can't edit the page. Can someone make it to make them the same?

Done. The page was protected so that only "autoconfirmed" users can edit it, due to it being a high traffic page and/or excessive vandalism. --Naista2002Grid Book and Quill.png Grid Iron Pickaxe.png 08:54, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Pocket edition 0.1x.0[edit source]

I do not know if this is true, but if it is, it should be in the planned versions page (I do not know how you would edit the page, though). In 0.1x.0, these features may be added:

  • weather
    • originally planned for 0.10.0, but got delayed
  • the nether
    • potions
      • in 0.11.0, the jump boost effect will be added. If potion of leaping is implemented, there would also be rabbits or another way to get rabbit's foot.
    • Zombie pigmen in the nether will make gold renewable.
      • Assuming the new nether reactor (see below) does not consume the nether reactor core, everything the new nether reactor gives will also be renewable.
    • The nether reactor will do something entirely different.
      • The new nether reactor will be some kind of "super dungeon".
  • hardcore mode
    • delayed from 0.10.0
  • Version exclusive:far biome
    • will only appear in old worlds
    • delayed from 0.9.0
  • new layout for the controls
    • the jump button will be on the right
    • The player will be able to sneak (may be added in a later update)
    • The player will be able to sprint (may be added in a later update)
      • Hunger will be added with sprinting.

Unless these are confirmed by someone working at Mojang, they should not be added to the page. -- Orthotopetalk 01:39, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Mojang also said that Redstone will be added BEFORE beta. MobileCrafter (talk) 08:10, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Do you have a source? We cannot just take your word for it. KnightMiner (t·c) 17:51, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
According to one of the references in Pocket Edition mentioned features, redstone will be added in beta 1.0.0. Another reference says that 0.11.0 will be the last major update in alpha. The only confirmed blocks are blocks of redstone and dispensers, everything else is only a maybe. Another reference says that new in beta 1.0.0, there will be easy difficulty, hard difficulty, or both. 71.35.109.25 02:38, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
In this case, I would say it belongs on Pocket Edition mentioned features, as none of the sources state a specific version (except the 1.0.0 release, which is not enough of a source for a full version). KnightMiner (t·c) 15:26, 13 February 2015 (UTC)
I found that in-game music will also be added in 1.0.0. Also, I do not get why the 1.0.0 release is not enough for a full version. Finally, it turns out that 0.1x.0 refers to the future in general, so one could use

===0.1x.0===
{{main|Pocket Edition mentioned features}}
0.1x.0 refers to the future in general.
67.160.25.176 23:59, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

The reason I said that was not enough of a source is its a single tweet saying the feature is put off until 1.0.0 (specifically, the MCW:Style guide requires multiple sources of the versions existence). Also, from the way its stated, it seems more like a to do list by/for beta rather than actual features planned for the version. If you can give me sources for all the features you mentioned are coming (you need to link the sources, not just state they exist), and a enough users agree those are enough sources, I will agree to adding it, but until then, I would leave it on Pocket Edition mentioned features.
As for 0.1x.0, that is not an edition but a list of features mentioned for the future. As this page is to list versions planned for the future, that would be out of the scope, so the features should remain on Pocket Edition mentioned features (there is a link in the sidebar on the right to the page). Split 0.11.0 into new article?[edit source]

I think we should split the content regarding 0.11.0 into a new article before it gets too big, don't you think? BDJP007301 (t|c) 18:56, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

I would support the split, though the main reason it has not been split is that the other PE versions have not been given their own pages yet. As such, we may want to start a discussion proposing the pages start being split to their own articles in the community portal, as there is not a consensus to split other editions of Minecraft yet. KnightMiner (t·c) 19:06, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Finished features[edit source]

I think there should be a message that says "Finished Feature" in green. It would be used for features that have been made, but not released. 67.160.25.176 22:53, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Any such message would be speculation, as we have no idea which features are complete, and even once released they still are likely incomplete. We could look at the tweets showing progress, but what about if no progress was posted on the other features, but they are still complete? KnightMiner t/c 23:13, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

HoloLens[edit source]

Just as am obvious note, despite the fact that HoloLens may be advertised as holography, it does not actually project holographs through means of its 'projection', and instead is a mere augmented reality visor. Don't call it holography. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.125.252.80 (talk) at 20:56, 12 April 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

I assume the title was more of meant as a reference to the HoloLens, rather then in reference to holographs. I changed it to state the system directly, as that makes more sense. KnightMiner t/c 00:40, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Extending worlds[edit source]

Well after looking at the Pocket Edition section for a bit I can't find anything about the ability to make old worlds infinite. Did a Mojang employee say it wasn't going to be added, or is there just no source? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 21:45, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Xbox Skins[edit source]

4J Studios recently posted an image of Alex skin in Minecraft. It is the xbox, as you can see an achievement above it. Please look 174.52.102.52 21:52, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes, that looks like Alex is planned for the console edition, or at least the Xbox edition. However, this page is only about planned versions, and since that is not stated for any version (rather it is mentioned), it would belong on Console Edition mentioned features. KnightMiner t/c 03:29, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Why would HoloLens be a different edition?[edit source]

Is there any actual word that it would be anything other than a new feature for PC Edition? I've been thinking of it as features like the touch screen controls: they're there but off by default and those of us without touch screens quickly forget that it's there. Or like the mod to allow VR goggles. It's just an add-on to PC Edition. WildBluntHickok (talk) 03:03, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Both of the tweets used as references imply much more than a simply add-on for the PC edition. the first one states there is a "toy" version and one closer to the actual game, which would make no sense if it is an add-on for the actual game.
The second tweet states exactly there is a HoloLense version, not an expansion of the PC version. KnightMiner t/c 04:09, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Ocelots[edit source]

Doesn't it belong on the page Pocket Edition Alpha 0.12.0? 71.212.10.80 02:41, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

If Mojang said they would be added in 0.12.0, then yes. As it is, people need to stop guessing which features will be in which version and stick to what has been officially confirmed. — Orthotopetalk 02:46, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Hololens[edit source]

During the Xbox Conference from E3, they showed more info about the MC for Hololens. Seems more live like. More info will be available at Minecon 2015 can't wait for that. Lydia talks at: [Redacted due to spam filter] and Hololens game demo at: [Redacted due to spam filter] enjoy.

I think there should be a Hololens edition page sometime after the Minecon convection to display/discuss (its own talk page) about the upcoming edition. TL007 (talk) 18:58, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Uh... your links were removed by the spam filter. BDJP (t|c) 19:28, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict)Can you provide links? I’m not seeing any hits in the filter logs. As for creating an edition page, that depends on how much concrete information we get at Minecon. Since there isn’t even a release date for the HoloLens itself yet, it still feels a bit like vaporware to me. — Orthotopetalk 19:34, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Grum has said that the Hololens version will be based off the pocket edition (see http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/39xsnf/microsoft_just_anounced_a_minecraft_version_built/cs8ecet?context=3). Should a page be created for Hololens or just a sub-section of the Pocket Edition page, or should we just wait until there is more information? GoandgooTalk

Pi Edition is also based off Pocket Edition, maybe merge it with PE? I don't think so, since they all are separate editions. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) –Preceding undated comment was added at 9:13, 17 June 2015 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I think Goandgoo means it is compatible with PE, unlike Pi which is not compatible with PE. In that case I would agree to considering it a Pocket Edition upon release, though I would personally wait for its release to state it there. KnightMiner t/c 14:57, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Split the article[edit source]

All editions are more or less different and separate, and more editions are coming. Taking that and the similarity with Mentioned features and Removed features into account, I propose splitting the article into multiple, one for each edition. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 10:08, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

The reason all the articles are merged here is because often we will only have one planned version, and even when we have multiple, there is rarely more than one per edition (especially since the console edition usually is either unplanned or released). Also, with the PC and Pocket editions having their own article per version, there is little content that would actually exist should they be separated. KnightMiner t/c 14:55, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Disagree per above. BDJP (t|c) 16:19, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Nope, got to agree with The Blobs. There isnt a computer edition. At least not for me. There always was one, but its gone. All i see is 1) Console, 2) Pocket, 3) References. :( --213.196.219.156 20:23, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
There is no upcoming update with enough sources to add to planned versions, 1.10 was just released and nothing has been announced since then. KnightMiner t/c 23:51, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
Wouldnt it be nice to write just that? I think leaving out the headline is confusing. Like something is wrong or missing. And not like "there is not information, therefore its left out". --195.14.222.222 13:42, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
If there was it would just be an empty section, so maybe I could instead tweak the header section to specifically state all versions are here. KnightMiner t/c 21:52, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Solution for future versions[edit source]

Maybe we should have something like "0.16.0 is an update released on September 21, 2016" until the update has been out for a week. If you have another idea, please state it. The BlobsPaper.png 14:51, 15 July 2016 (UTC)

Once an update is released it is no longer planned though. This page is solely to direct the users to the relevant update article.
Basically, users shouldn't be coming to this article for information on 0.16.0, they should come here to see if any updates are planned. They should already know the update number if they come here looking for the update, so it is not that hard for them to find the proper article (we even have a search bar if needed). Version names[edit source]

I notice that the version headers include the name. For example, the header for Pocket Edition 1.0 is "1.0 (Ender update)". Personally, I would like them to be removed, as the name of the version is already in the description. What do other users think? The BlobsPaper.png 04:03, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Agree. It's much more concise to have just the version number. Also, links to specific articles, like {{main|Pocket Edition 1.0}}, are usually directly underneath the heading with their respective name(s), e.g. The Holiday Update for Console Edition. Maethoredhel (tc) 05:09, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

PE 1.1: What counts as Confirmation?[edit source]

SamGamgee55, I noticed you reverted MCPE 1.1 as being an unconfirmed update, but in @jeb_'s tweet, he mentions a new block coming in both MCPC 1.12 and MCPE 1.1; does that not count as confirmation? It may not be an explicit confirmation, but it's still a notable mention that an update is coming. Jocopa3 (talk) 18:18, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

The source says that it is a work in progress for Pocket Edition 1.1, which means that they are working on the update. However, HelenAngel may know more. The BlobsPaper.png 20:04, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

I reverted the edit because speculation would then flood the page.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 00:46, 28 January 2017 (UTC)SamGamgee55

We don't really get that much speculation, do we? No more than one or two edits here and there? Even though it's been pretty common in the past for us to take only a single mention as sufficient to put a version on this page.. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 01:44, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
Speculation is usually posted by anonymous users. Since this page is semi protected, it is much less likely to receive speculation. The BlobsPaper.png 01:48, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Didn't know that this page was semi-protected so thank you for notifying me. Speaking of protected pages, why isn't the 1.12 page protected? There is literally at least one speculation edit per day on that page.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 06:56, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Looking at the page history, speculation seems to be decreasing. It might be more common when there is less real information and people are posting what they want to have in the version. The BlobsPaper.png 15:27, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

True... Thanks for pointing that out, I guess we can close this discussion.--SamGamgee55 (talk) 18:19, 28 January 2017 (UTC)SamGamgee55

I can confirm that there will be a 1.1 update like Jens said. However, what will be IN that update is all up in the air right now because we're still trying to get 1.0.3 out the door & then 1.0.4 - both will be really focused on bug fixes but of course we'll toss in a feature if we can get it to work properly. That's the key there- if we can get it to work. :) I wouldn't put too much stock yet in what may or may not be in that update simply because anything could break that could push a feature out (stained glass is a great example of this). --HelenAngel (talk) 21:13, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Confused about bugs[edit source]

Console Edition Mess[edit source]

Gosh, that section is a mess. Why don't we just take out the subtitle saying TU X/CU X/PS4 X/PS3 X/Wii U X/NS X and just leave that blank or Next Update. Computer java edition name[edit source]

There's been 2 edits lately regarding the "official" name of the computer java edition. A source was asked for calling it "Java Edition", which is https://minecraft.net/nl-nl/article/world-color-released. I'm not advocating for any name, just providing a source. --Pepijn (talk) 23:15, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Better Together Update[edit source]

I have a couple questions about the Better Together Update... Will this be released as a separate update from 1.13 and PE 1.2? And will pocket edition and console edition get all the features they don't have so that cross-platform play can work? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.60.247.50 (talk) at 10:42, 12 June 2017 (UTC). PE will be ported to Xbox one and the Nintendo switch, just like it's been ported to Windows 10 and gear vr and other things in the past. 4j studios won't be developing Minecraft on those consoles. The other console editions aren't part of this update, nor is the Java edition. I'm not 100% sure but I'm assuming when they say Update, they're referring to 1.2. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 13:10, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Shouldn't TU54/CU44/PS 1.52/Wii U Patch 24/NS Patch 4 get an official page? Because the list of features is getting kinda big, and the page is kind of cluttered. Could someone fix that? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.60.247.50 (talk) at 3:26, 16 June 2017 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Per the notability guidelines, version articles do not get an article until they have a significant source to their existence, it is my understanding that most of the information there is just planned for the "next update" and not those specific versions. In addition, the list is still pretty small in my opinion, and console edition versions do not get their own articles due to the awkwardness of each update having 5 names. KnightMiner t/c 03:59, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

Oh, I see! I forgot that Console edition doesn't generally get a page, and I see what you mean about it not being very big... thanks! - 75.60.247.50 22:30, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
