Most popular language versions

1. it could conceivably include all the language sections, if you do it just like wikipedia: top 'biggest' 10, then a subheader for over 500 articles, a subheader for over 200 articles, one for over 100 articles, one for 'other', etc. (numbers are inexact and just for illustration).

Article count can be viewed on Special:Statistics or added to any page via the {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}} magic word (for example, this wiki currently has 7,425 articles). And no, Lua can't be used in that way. 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 19:57, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

I don't see why not. It could easily replace one of the less useful sections (such as merging "Gameplay" with "Popular and useful pages", as they both serve the purpose of listing pages.). It might also help encourage users to join/read the other languages as well, as a lot of users still prefer the English version as it is the most popular.

As for actually getting the counts, the only two methods I can think of are JavaScript to pull the data from the other language's APIs, or using scary transclusion (which would require a page on each of the other wikis which simply contains {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}) –KnightMiner ^t/_c 23:26, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

I think this is a great idea to bring exposure to some of the larger wikis. Would it sort them by activity or how many articles there are? –Goandgoo ᐸ Talk

By how much are they visited, like on Wikipedia. Article count doesn’t reflect popularity — it can be quite easily ramped up to astronomical values by bots. — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 15:01, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

I also think that would be a good idea. Sorting by article count makes no sense since, as Sealbudsman said already, some wikis split up seperate versions (like the English, French and Russian wikis), some don't (like the German wiki) while some try to split up but don't have all version pages translated/created yet (like the Korean wiki). I think the best way to sort the languages is either alphabetically or by active users. | violine1101^(Talk) 11:36, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

I have a bot which can get statistics for all wikis in a set and output them to a subpage of the bot's userpage. The script is run for all Minecraft Wikis and all Terraria Wikis. In both cases the output is limited to the Russian wiki, but addition of a single line of code can change that. At the moment the wikis are sorted by article count, but the output table is sortable.

At the moment my bot is temporarily shut down for maintenance due to development of a new version of the bot's engine. However, I expect the development to be finished this week. Note that this new version includes a scheduler thread, and I plan to implement periodically run tasks, so it should become possible to update stats at arbitrary intervals. --GreenStone (judge me) 13:14, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

I won’t go for using bots for that. Bot activity may pose an unnecessary burden for servers, and I doubt a bot could calculate visit trends, which should be the actual Hamburg count ^{(as Russians put it)} for wikis to sort by. I would rely on something Curse would do, like an extension providing a parser function. Game widow? — Agent NickTheRed37 (talk) 17:25, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

A parser function would probably be very expensive (even compared to bots). Also note that if making 20–30 requests in one thread is a significant burden for the servers... well, we have more significant problems than wiki statistics. --GreenStone (judge me) 17:33, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Android current version is old

Classic is no longer available on the web site

I don't know when it happened, but classic is no longer available via a link, only exclusively via the launcher. I also don't know if that means classic is only available to people that have bought Minecraft, but the text on the page should change accordinly. --Chungyn (talk) 00:09, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Red links everywhere

In short, nothing's missing, they aren't wiki redlinks. We think the stylesheet has lost a declaration somewhere that sets visited links to blue, and was overriding a declaration setting it to red, thus we see it as red now. – Sealbudsman ^talk/_contr 23:14, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
