XBox Update

At the bottom of the update list on mojang.com for the XBox Update, there is listed: Removed Herobrine

Interesting Minecraft 1.2.5 Message on the update list

Hey when i opened up Minecraft, i looked at the list of updates that were included in 1.2.5, and i found this: "* Removed all ghost entities under the command of Lord Herobrine" anyone know what this means?

Its just a joke from Mojang to create some drama. Look at all the update notes in several of them it says 'removed herobrine'. It was just a joke and was never intended to be taken seriously.

no, no, no Herobrine is real trust me! Minecraft assosiation wouldn't make up a whole page of info on Herobrine and they say oh it was just a joke. There have been sightings of Herobrine fom my freinds on the xbox. It could be some hacker who got the Herobrine skin but I doubt it. Besides theres been screenshots of Herobrine posted all over the internet. You may wonder why there aren't much video's of him moving around but that's because the moment you see Herobrine you won't be able to actually have time to video tape it before he dissapears. Don't you hate that you can actualy pause the game in xbox minecraft!!??

Kevin August 2012

So we're not allowed to say herobrines real?!??!

What's the point of this talk page then, just remove it -_- you say it takes up space anyway.

To discuss the article and factuality of Herobrine. As well as mojang updates. --Kizzycocoa 18:52, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
Agreed.

I know how to build a herobrine spawner on xbox. It hasn't worked yet. I have confidence herobrine is real. also on the main menu it once said that Herobrine could be still on the xbox. I think in a couple updates they'll bring him back. I hope they have Enderman too.Don't know what that is? look it up.

What you may have built is a spawner set to "Monster", "Human", or "Player" which will spawn a steve. These behave like a zombie. See this[1] Pokechu22 20:19, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for responding but I'm pretty sure it was a Herobrine Spawner. But the thing your talking about is cool, I want to build it but I don't know how.

Xbox message about Herobrine

Can someone please get a screenshot of this message? it must be a full-screen screenshot. we cannot add it unless we have proof, and where this proof is visible, as per previous Mojang Media appearances. --Kizzycocoa 00:43, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

RE:Archive #4

You seriously deleted everything on the page just so you could be noticed. Wow. Just wow.

Actually, I moved it all to another page, as most of it was spam, which I've now addressed in the new header. To make a fresh start, so we are clear with users from the start.
The Xbox message was about the only thing I picked up on that still needed implementation into the page, that was discussed on the previous. if anyone has anything else to ask/re-ask, feel free. but we don't want the spam of those two questions anymore.--Kizzycocoa 17:48, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

So your on Notch's side now hmm?-Jacob20056

I am on the side of the community and factual accuracy. --Kizzycocoa 18:52, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Where is the link then?

4J Twitter Feed

I have noticed on the 4J Studios Twitter feed that they have been teasing about Herobrine on the Xbox. Namely this users Comment and 4J Studios' Reply [2]. I don't know if this is true or that 4J Studios is just teasing this particular Minecraft Xbox user, but I thought it was worth a look.

Kboy21 22:54, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

I cannot add it in. the question asked is simply pitiful english. I can't understand it at all. hence the vague yes. if we get a more definitive comment of their intentions, or even opinions, we'll add it. --Kizzycocoa 23:02, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Found a better one [3]
Kboy21 17:33, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
I want to put it in, but I can't. it'd incite speculation. and also, I can't find a good place for it. :S --Kizzycocoa 23:26, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Another Notch Twitter Comment

Notch Explaining Microsoft Exclusivity and Herobrine Again as many people still believe. [4] Kboy21 21:06, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

We don't need any more quotes debunking Herobrine. still, nice find! --Kizzycocoa 23:26, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I saw on the page that any more comments about Him from employees should be posted to the talk page. Maybe that should be taken out?
--Kboy21 04:23, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
We are. from other employees. their opinion on the Herobrine character. not comments where he's mentioned once or twice. --Kizzycocoa 12:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Testificate.com

I've noticed that there's a complete lack of information on the "Testificate.com" website other than the Trivia Reference. Perhaps more information about it should go on the page? --Kboy21 04:47, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

it's an unrelated fansite. --Kizzycocoa 12:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Wake up~

I think it's worth mentioning that Notch may have alluded to the "WAKE UP" text from the Brocast hoax in the final line of the "End Poem"

Indeed. I think this counts as evidence Notch started this.
we cannot add speculation. and Notch most certainly did not start it. --Kizzycocoa 12:59, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Considering there are philosophies that treat reality as a dream that have been around longer than the Herobrine creepypasta, I honestly don't see how a command to wake up automatically connects to Herobrine. Cobalt32 16:57, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

I admit I didn't read everything in the "End Poem", but I'm sure I read exactly the lines wich also appeard in the hoax. I'm not saying Notch started this. I just thought it would be worth mentioning

I've read both, no similarities other than use of the words "wake up". Cobalt32 16:58, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I just read the entire thing. Sounds like the Herobrine thing. Says 'wake up' at the end and also implies you're living in a fantasy world.

Tekkit

There is a very sneaky herobrine mod on the tekkit pack. I played for almost a month at first with no sign of him, then things started getting weird. eventually we've reached the point where he makes appearances every night.

I have researched, and not seen any such outcry of such an addition. furthermore, mods don't go on wiki pages. --Kizzycocoa 19:30, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
Post the information on the Tekkit forums and include image or video links.Pokechu22 20:21, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

I have Tekkit and I havnt seen this, the launcher crashed (Dont know why) and it said a full list of the mods but there was none that said herbrine. tommy121314

Don't Know What To Believe

I believe notch about not having a dead brother and not ever adding herobrine but i believe my friend who has cliamed to have seen herobrine.

And i find it weied he only is seen with a tiny render distance he has never been seen with far render distance.

After All That I believe Notch Is Telling The Truth

And how come the fameous minecraft players have never seen him.

can someone find a yogscast video with herobrine in it plz

Herobrine has never existed. Your friend is either using a mod, or flat out lying.
Herobrine has never, ever existed in the game. --Kizzycocoa 20:43, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I am usually given such a dilemma by my friends too, and I think the reason why all these rumors are prevalent is because maybe we actually wish herobrine existed. I mean, its a pretty awesome idea: an elusive, creepy, entity that stalks you while you are playing and tries to trap you. At least, I think thats my case. But I still hold out some hope against the more logical centers of my brain that he might exist.

108.201.222.178 22:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

@kizzy cocoa. YOu better not be saying HIM is fake. It's pointless and clogs up the page User:Noobnathan

Ive seen herobrine lots on craftdan.

Herobrine is KINDA real

Well... at the bottom of the Wiki page, in Trivia, it says there is a legit user named Herobrine who has full version. Well, he just happens to be a regular on my server!!! Can we add this... all that is really know about this user is that he is a regular on Mines of Life, a cracke server???

Cracked servers=unreliable. --Kizzycocoa 15:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
There was a server I played on, and at one point the chat said "Herobrine left the game.". However, I think it unlikely that it was actually the user, because the server uses the plugin "Fakie" which I think could have been used to fake the message.

Mentioned in XBLA Minecraft 1.73 changelog

Someone with time want to add a section for the mention of Herobrine in the new 1.73 Minecraft XBLA changelog? I just dont know where it should go exactly, but it needs to be added. This is the closest official source I could find in a minute: http://playxbla.com/you-can-haz-it-minecraft-xbox-360-edition-update-happens-tomorrow/ Might be something better, but doesn't matter much because all changelogs list Herobrine's removal. EarthBoundX5 09:06, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

adding ASAP! --Kizzycocoa 15:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Anyone else notice this?

Anyone ever notice on the Xbox 360 minecraft the pic, which has Steve at the front before you start the game in the quickplay section, has Herobrine is in it? Try looking very closing under the one of the skeletons right arm in the corner of the cave you'll see him. I really hope he's not in game. Jorgeturc 20:26, 16 July 2012 (UTC)jorgeturc

Pardon? --Kizzycocoa 15:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Yeah i was looking at the pic closely since he was in seen a lot in the background of pictures i looked my best and saw him under the skeletons right arm. I'm just saying that i saw him in the pic. Jorgeturc 17:03, 17 July 2012 (UTC)jorgeturc

May you please circle Herobrine in Paint, or a similar editing program? --Kizzycocoa 17:45, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
That's quite clearly a zombie... (Also we already have the full image here, in better quality too.) ultradude25 (T|C) at 17:48, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Well then I give up, I see it, but since more people disagree with me than agree I give up. I'm sorry for wasting your time. Jorgeturc 18:21, 17 July 2012 (UTC)jorgeturc
Please, do show us where via paint. We've yet to see exactly what you claim to be Herobrine. --Kizzycocoa 18:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Truth is, I don't have a paint or editing program with me. I can tell you he is in the bottom left corner of the cave under the flaming skeletons right arm, the small tiny dark space where the diamond in front of the chicken near the creeper is pointing to this is as exact as I can be without paint or the editing programs. Jorgeturc 19:41, 17 July 2012 (UTC) jorgeturc

Hey guys, on 26/8/12, me (Isaacdevil is my minecraft username and DEVILO_123 is my minecraftwiki username) and DarkKnight2399 (1 of my minecraft friends) saw herobrine and he got snapshots while I found 1 xp orb where Herobrine died (DarkKnight2399 killed him when he was trying to run) and Herobrine spawned again and chased DarkKnight2399 again and I'm trying to solve the mystery behind Herobrine and I'll check the gamefiles.

Herobrine in Xbox360!!

Has anyone noticed that Herobrine is an availible skin for the Xbox 360 skin pack one? i havent actually used him, becuase i only got the trial, but he is an availible skin!

What?! Cool! Can we have screenshots?? --Kizzycocoa 15:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
You want a picture? Sorry for the size, but i really dont know how to do screenshots and such...so here is a google image i found. Recently i bought the skin pack, and have been able to use him. Sadly, no glowing eyes, and he dosent have any of his demonic/pyshic powers like he is rumored to have. Uhh, bit of a technical issue here...cant quite seem to get those cat photos right, but anyway just go to google images and type in "Herobrine Xbox 360 skin in line" you should see an image of him holding a steel axe. Thats the one i was going to upload...again, sorry but this cat thing i just cant get right :(
You can see it in the trial for skin pack 2. You cant use it, but it is visible.Pokechu22 20:26, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

refrences

if mojang wants people to belive herobrine is fake why include so many refrences to him in and out of minecraft. like the sentence herobrine removed in updates, when an dispenser arrow kills you it says you were shot by herobrine, when loading 360 edition it sometime says we think 4j studios has removed herobrine but were not to sure, including him on the valentines day card, show him at minecon 2011 and include him as a skin in 360 edition.

Because he is a community meme. They love to troll their fanbase. --Kizzycocoa 15:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Similar reasoning behind telling one's children that Santa Claus is real despite the falsity of that notion. Cobalt32 16:56, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

hey cobalt32 careful what you put my five year old looks at this page.

Let's be frank; you're gonna have to explain it yourself someday anyway. Cobalt32 18:51, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

yeah well i should be the one to tell him anyway not some stranger and i do plan to tell him when hes seven

An internet argument over Santa Claus? Now I've seen everything. Worry about real things like the direction your child's friends are leading him, what things he learns, etc., not the fact that Santa isn't real. --Kanegasi 21:44, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

herobrine intentions

What I don't get is that so many people believe the creepy pasta Herobrine is evil. He's not truly in MC, he could have good intentions. I was reading the discussions under the Herobrine page and Notch said he's there to warn of the dangers you can't see... that might mean Notch if by the slightest chance decides to add Herobrine he might be a ally. Herobrine is often seen as evil due to the Brocast stream, where the streamer was terrified of him. That, and he also attempted to block the user in the origins image from telling his story, as well as fading into the fog, which is also very ominous.

That, and public image of him has turned him vengeful. Have you ever heard of a friendly ghost other than Casper? there's a reason for that. Ghosts are scary. inescapable and indestructable versions of ourself, all of which were killed. None die of normal uses, as ghosts are the result of high emotions in typical ghostlore.
Also, Steve's face with white eyes isn't exactly friendly, is it? --Kizzycocoa 18:25, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

i dont think steves face with wight glowing eyes is scary it looks more peaceful to me then evil if it had red glowing eyes then it be scary besides what has steve done to herobrine to anger him nothing because herobrine is not legititmly in minecraft to be honest i think herobrine in brocast just wanted to look over the player secretly.

welp, people are allowed to do their own interpretations. but in the Brocast stream, he was literally a painting which the player cowered from, as if it were a real character. He literally did nothing, as he was not an NPC. he was a texture in a modified painterly texture pack. Not only that, but this stream was a long time ago, so any chances of recovering it is long gone. --Kizzycocoa 19:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Clarification on "No intention to add 'as is'"

There are two things that have apparently been completely forgotten on this page; one is that Endermen were added AFTER Notch said he had no intention to add Herobrine "as is", while another is that Endermen were added in 1.8, the same update it said that Herobrine was removed. Yet more stunning coincidences: both Herobrine and Endermen have glowing eyes, both place blocks, both teleport, both ignore every mob but the player, both apparently don't like being looked at, both have a tendency to just disappear, and both are apparently based on the Slender Man. --George_Mallory 20:30, 23 July 2012 (UTC)

The issue is, Endermen are in Minecraft, yet no link has been made by Notch or Jeb_ that the Endermen are his "replacement" per-se. We do not have any confirmation of him being excluded either. We did from Notch, which in of itself said "I don't plan to". as is, that could have been "I will decide later if I feel like it", but now, Jeb_ and Jon are in charge, so we still have no clear idea about his addition.
I honestly believe this is the last nugget of information the wiki needs article-wise. we've had this wiki so long, we know everything else. Which is why this is so infuriating. I have persistently attempted to make contact with Jeb_ and Jon, but to no avail. I implore anyone else, get confirmation that he's off the table. but until then, we must assume he could still be in the game, as the administration change, much like changing parties in politics, makes his addition possible. --Kizzycocoa 20:41, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
I know Notch had recently statedd, and I quote: "Herobrine never existed"; but I guess if Jeb figures out a way to make a decent Herobrine-esque mob and decides to add it, nothing's to say he can't. Cobalt32 18:56, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Dynamics have changed. Notch no longer works on Minecraft. Jeb_ and Jon have fully taken over. --Kizzycocoa 19:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Notch doesn't work on it anymore, but it's still his game and Jeb probably isn't going to add anything to the game that Notch wouldn't have wanted to add. Cobalt32 23:24, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

I dont know what to think...

When i'm mining or in my home i just hear some weird noice. I look behind me nothing there... but one time when i was playing i saw a light. But i knew i didnt plant torches there. When i went to the area... Agian nothing there. After that I didnt know what to think. Maybe its a glitch? I dont know...

That is ambiance. It signals that there's a very dark space nearby. It triggers in the middle of a 3x3x3 pocket of air that has a zero light level. --Kizzycocoa 07:23, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah but it was like a herobrine mod noice... --littlej173 11:34, 24 July 2012
I understand the light thing but what about the noice? --littlej173 11:38, 24 July 2012
all noises in that particular mod you're talking about we're all already in Minecraft, way before the mod used them. --Kizzycocoa 06:45, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh thanks. I was scared. --littlej173 04:36, 25 July 2012
What if you find a stairway? In a cave...? --littlej173 08:20, 25 July 2012
If SP, naturally generated or previously visited. If MP, Another user. Herobrine does not exist in any version of Minecraft to date. At all. --Kizzycocoa 00:23, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm just soo freaked out of herobrine... Maby I have to lay off of minecraft for a while... Is anyone else freaked out? I know I am.. All I want to know if herobrine is gotten out completely out of minecraft for a couple years so I don't have to be freaked out. I don't have an account but if I did it would be named Ppnguin10

Herobrine has never been in Minecraft. Ever. Furthermore I must ask how the hell it's scary. Unless Herobrine comes out of the screen Ring-style, nothing would happen. but he isn't in Minecraft. --Kizzycocoa 19:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Hmm.. this really is scary. I'm only 13 and that weird note that was found in the Herobrine thing was super scary. I mean why should someone actually want a real Herobrine in the game? People like me/ people ten years or younger or people who have problems with things that you'll get issues or something when you get scared can get really afraid of this.

BLa. Found on dA if you want to talk to me. Spectrobe-Drawah is the username.

Another photo with Herobrine

I was on Minecraft's official Facebook page and I saw their new cover photo: File:Minecraft_Facebook_Cover_Photo.jpeg

Notice next to Steve's left arm, you see a guy sitting under a tree. Is that Herobrine?

no.
HOWEVER, the one to the right, in the distsant background, has very white eyes.

I'm accepting this as another media appearance. good one! ^^ --Kizzycocoa 22:59, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

OH! /HIS/ left. Yes, he is there. Added already.
why do people say "his left shoulder"? Why not "to the right, above his shoulder"? XD --Kizzycocoa 00:25, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

LOL sorry...I should have worded that differently. I appreciate you accepting this as a media appearance. I just thought it would have already been here on the wiki.

Guys just to clarify this was on the official page but the photo was fan-made

yep, we know. But, mojang have officially accepted/used it, so we've included it. --Kizzycocoa 19:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry to completely change subject but i like the slenderman reference with the enderman holding the umbrella in the background

steves old skin

has anyone ever noticed how herobrine has a beard like the original steve. but now steve dosent have a beard this is quiet strange indeed,it also says on the herobrine page herobrine is seen as a dead miner by the mc coummunity.maybe herobrine is the ghost of the original steve skin. even thought he is fake.

As Herobrine has had the old skin, we're keeping it. Unless the author of Herobrine comes forward. If they ever, ever do.
As for the rest, I doubt people drew beards-miner comparison. I think it's more the fact the game itself require all players to take the hat of miner at some point. --Kizzycocoa 15:30, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Ive seen herobrine with the current skin. Some people say herobrine was the first character generated and the generation goofed up. And some other people say herobrine doesnt represent a dead miner even though the world generated mineshaft encourages that thuoght.

I just thought I'd mention this. File:removedHerobrine.png

but wait! if herobrine was removed agian dosent that mean he was in 1.2.5? In total herobrine was removed from minecraft,5...5, times! --littlej173
He's never been in Minecraft. these changelogs are just playing on the meme. --Kizzycocoa 16:15, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
could herobrine be a virus or the human mob? Edit it could also be a reference to a glitch or something since it appears in a lot of change logs. --DominicMV1
It was a joke; Notch himself said on his Twitter that Herobrine never existed. Cobalt32 15:06, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Maby he was lying....... Proboly not...... Has anyone even tried to kill herobrine?

As one who knows some Java and who wants to be a game designer in the future, allow me to point out that independent artificial intelligences aren't possible with Java coding, and Notch would really have no reason to lie about his own game. Cobalt32 03:41, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Ok I guess I was wrong.

I don't know where I did read this, but Jeb or Notch said that this is only a joke and they will just keep joking about it. Only the first massage "Removed Herobrine" was actually a sign that codes for the old human mob were removed.

Possible interpretation of Herobrine's name

If you pick apart Herobrine's name, you can seperate it into two seperate words: Hero and Brine. Hero, quite obviously, is a figure of justice. Brine is an old-fashioned word for saline/sea water. Possibly this could be interpreted as Herobrine being some kind of hero of the oceans?

I think your on the something.
While this is blatantly obvious, we cannot fully discern the nature of the name. not only is water never mentioned in either of the "canon" sources, but the name itself is disjointed if cut apart. We'd need to find the creator to dissect the real meaning of the name. The rest is speculation, which isn't allowed on the wiki. --Kizzycocoa 19:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
If you pick it apart even more, it is "he ro br in e"(he.class,ro.class,br.class,in.class,e.class), maybe "Removed Herobrine" is added whenever these class files change?Minecraft5025 19:29, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Pure co-incidence. there's also aa, ab, ac, ad ect. classes. practically one for every 2 letter combination. --Kizzycocoa 19:31, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Strange

I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT HEROBRINE IS REAL

When I was trekking through some mountains, I thought i saw a figure moving, but i ignored it. Then lightning almost hit me several times. I started getting suspicious, so i returned to my home. Everything was normal until i looked in my animal pen. A wolf had spawned and killed all my sheep. Anyone have an explanation? And if possible can someone search minecrafts coding for anything which could be a logical explanation for my story and all herobrine storys? Thanks68.231.126.31 01:17, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Herobrine; you just sighted a zombie, had a bad day, and need to build better animal pens.

Also, people have already looked in Minecraft's coding for Herobrine and didn't find him. Cobalt32 02:08, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

i might have a story. what happened was i made a dog house for my wolf and then after a while i came back and he was gone! and the sign infront of the dog house was gone as well! then i saw a nameplate then everything in my chest was gone and then my house was struck by lightning... i knew this wasnt right and got outside and looked around but saw nothing this all happened very fast. Anyone know how this happened if herobrine doesnt attack mobs then how was my wolf gone? i'm not saying hes real but this is just suspicious. ~~ Souldustdestroy ~~

  • Maybe the wolf despawned because you forgot to make him sit, and maybe you misplaced the sign and closed the chest without fully moving the items in? Minecraft5025 17:00, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

the wolf was sitting, the chest had everything in and the sign was there before and do you know about the nameplate? ~~souldustdestroy~~

In no way could it have been herobrine. Firstly, Herobrine doesn't exist. Secondly, In the stories, he doesn't have a nameplate. Maybe it is a feature meant to scare the player. Perhaps if possible, lightning will target players. 68.231.126.31 02:07, 10 August 2012 (U

i dont think this has to do with herobrine but a jungle tree spawned in the middle of nowhere and there were no other jungle trees around is this normal? the jungle tree was in the middle of a desert and the plains (it was sort of in the middle) ~~souldustdestroy~~

Wierd.. my wolves have started disapeering too... 68.231.126.31 23:27, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

I had a pig farm. Later all pigs had dissappered, and it was some porkchops instead... Another time on the same save, my house was filled with dirt. I tryied to dig away that dirt, to check if my chests was there. Nothing, only my craftingtable, was there!!! And my wolves was gone too...

Herobrine is real, but not in the way shown by trolls. The reason why we deny him being real is because when some f*cker fakes a sighting, we then decide that all other sightings MUST be fake, no matter what. Seriously, guys. You're as intelligent as half the internet. Although I do have my own little, not sighting, but hearing. I can sometimes hear something walking on blocks when I'm not moving, and there's no animal around. But I even used text to taunt him (calling him a white-eyed freak), and yet nothing has happened yet. I have not gone back onto that world yet, but the same thing persisted into a downgrade of Minecraft. But to round out what I said: Just because one is fake doesn't mean you've filled the gaps of all the stories. 75.172.63.164 02:21, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

I have also experienced the footsteps, but it is due to sound lag. Lagging footstep sounds were barely noticeable in 1.2.5, but since 1.3, with the SSP and SMP merge, lagging footstep sounds are very pronounced and block placement sound also lags. Kanegasi 09:08, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello I'm new on minecraft wiki but I have researched a bit in the subject(on youtube, minecraft wiki and other minecraft forums). I have looked at many videos and many of them are fake, but i have seen two about Herobrine that can actually be true. I think Notch wanted it to be a secret thing, like a boss in the normal minecraft world and that people wouldn't be aware of. The only strange thing about it, why don't Notch admit it's true. Was it a bug, a virus, or perhaps a mistake, no one knows because Notch doesn't answer a answer that could be true, one user wouldn't have faked the whole thing, or did someone hack into minecraft and released a fake version of minecraft with Herobrine. 10:20 Swedish time, 2 of September 2012. Iceblade02.

Considering how Java works, a simple bug or virus wouldn't be able to create something like Herobrine. The original Herobrine was just a sham made by the writer of the creepypasta, and subsequent sightings were either lies, Zombies in Tiny render distance, or mods. Cobalt32 16:35, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Why I think Herobrine most likely would not be included in any vanilla version of Minecraft

Okay, these are purely my thoughts, but I feel they are logical. Firstly, Herobrine is "canonically" a stalker. That would be downright disturbing, when added to the constant threat of creepers, provided you're not playing on peaceful. Also, his "community" variation attacks and kills the player using traps [or from behind], and that would be super annoying, especially when returning from a very successful mining trip. Secondly, he has a supposed creepy aura, and some consider him frightening [despite his nonexistence]. Considering the game's E10+ ESRB rating on Xbox and the amount of children who play the game [although they are far less numerous than other age groups], it would be hardly practical to add such a character to the game. Thirdly, as Cobalt32 stated, Java coding doesn't support such individual A.I., rendering Herobrine unable to render his infamous atrocities unto players. Going off of that a little further, the world generator would have to have new code implemented to account for Herobrine's structures, as talked about in the "canon" story.

That's just my opinion as to why it would be illogical and impossible to add Herobrine.

Also, going slightly off topic, is the Left 4 Dead 2 community campaign Deathcraft II [the better version] worth mentioning, considering it was part of a promotional thing between Valve and Mojang? Herobrine appears several times in that campaign. 24.145.54.216 17:06, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't be too sure about the campaign Deathcraft I and II it's custom meaning that it was not created by Valve, Just by the community; a person outside of Valve. But considering its popularity it could be added as a media appearance on the Herobrine Page. By the way you hit the nail there on the opinion, good job! Hi all Halokid, Recently I have heard a very few rumors, the "most heard hushed" conversations about Lord Herobrine, One of which is that Notch ADDED him for publicity, others say he is a Bug and/or glitch, there is no evidence of this being real

Contradictory pages

The Human mob page contains the following: In Beta 1.6.6, the changelog contained the message "Removed Herobrine". This was Notch "joking" when removing parts of the coding for the Human mob. This and the following three "Herobrine removed" mentions that appeared in Betas 1.7, 1.7_01 and 1.8.1 removed the individual class files for the Human, merely making it somewhat of a default mob. It could still be spawned, but it possessed the default health, (10 hearts) spawn conditions, (Light level 7) melee attack, view distance, and various other parameters shared by all other hostile mobs at the time. The mob at this time now was called "Monster" instead of "Human". The "Removed Herobrine" message was mentioned again in the Beta 1.8 changelog, where all the code for the human mob had been disabled/removed, and the ability to hack the mob into the game with spawn commands or spawners was removed. In the 1.0, 1.2, and 1.3 updates, Jeb wrote "Removed Herobrine" again, but as a "joke". Whereas this page says that only the first "Removed Herobrine" had a reason. Anyone know which is right?

on the weekend me and my mates where playing minecraft at my house and i had recently optained disc 11 from creative. we listened to it at least seven times and then my mate ben said he heard a name near the end. so we listned to it again. and near the end before the chirp parts we heard somebody say herobr... if you dont belive me try it yourself. 92.18.245.2 12:03, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

C418 has denied any Herobrine. End of discussion. --Kizzycocoa 14:23, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

We'll never know for sure if the figure in the 11 disc was HIM. Anyways, I can't comment on that due to the fact that HIM may be watching us. End of story for now Example (talkcontribslogsblock log)Noobnthan}} Noobnathan 16:04, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Herobrine Update?

Well, if Notch likes the idea of Herobrine, he can put him in Minecraft, if he likes because he is the main game developer. 118.169.175.96 12:09, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Now That would be up to the Notch to add Herobrine to Minecraft. For all we know he could be deciding to do so. Jorgeturc 14:20, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Jorgeturc

Actually, Notch is no longer working on MC.--Kizzycocoa 14:23, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

He does Deserve a rest after all of this. Then it's all up to his Co-Designer Jens Bergensten. Jorgeturc 14:33, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Jorgeturc

Dinnerbone tweeted that he made a new mob. He said some things that made me think it was a human mob. So perhaps he is adding something similar. (for link, go to upcoming features, and check links on the thing that says "at least one new mob.) 68.231.126.31 02:04, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, one of the new mobs it says Dinnerbone may add is a old, but popular suggestion. Herobrine is old, like I think 1.6. But still popular. Could Herobrine really be added into the game?

I know the owner of Herobrine!

The owner of the account "Herobrine" is from someone I don't know in real life. One of his other usernames is ashpokeman.

Tell me, How did you find this out?--Jorgeturc 11:40, 20 August 2012 (UTC) jorgeturc
^this.
but if you have, feel free to email me, so I may safely give you my whitelist server, to see if he can use the account. If so, that's a major hole in the article filled in, and I'd very much like an interview with the owner of the account. --Kizzycocoa 20:06, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

I have to say that ive met "ashpokeman" On a game called roblox (I used to play it) He plays that not minecraft and DID NOT make "Herobrine" 19:35, 25 August 2012 (UTC)Jaydman2102

update 1.3.2

Did anyone notice in 1.3.2 it doesnt say removed herobrine? Anyone?

So? Jorgeturc 13:38, 26 August 2012 (UTC)jorgeturc
Mojang probably stop doing this joke cause people got angry whenever they do that. Example (talkcontribslogsblock log)Noobnathan}} Noobnathan 16:11, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
If you look, the don't remove on every minor update. (1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3 would be all related.)Pokechu22 20:54, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Moderator or Administrator?

"Due to increased drama surrounding the Herobrine page, a wiki moderator asked notch over IRC if Herobrine would be added"

Just a side note, as it said above Moderator, It should say Administrator. Kizzycocoa (As far as I know) is not a Moderator (Official). However, he is a Official a Administrator. Also, we do not have any official wiki moderators at this time. Just so you know. Spencer10APSC 15:13, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Testificate.com?

Has anyone else tried to search testificate.com recently? I just searched it (expecting to see herobrine and 1.4)and it redirected me to the minecraft main page. Anyone else wonder what this means?Postalnerd787 01:41, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Maybe the website is having a technical error, it was shut down, or they locked the website so it wasn't available to the public. Jorgeturc 13:41, 26 August 2012 (UTC)jorgeturc

removed the now redundant trivia --Kizzycocoa 11:52, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Seriously.

At any point I would like to point out that Herobrine, is not not Notch's "Dead" brother, that is simply stupid, he is simply the manifestation of the player's imagination, helped along with Minecraft's updates in which the players are given a chance to expierence Herobrine. Yes, he is real, since he is an entity. But it would be ridiculous to say he is Notch's dead brother. Given that, stories are known to pick up more material, such as this. Turning it thus, into a rumour. Other ridiculous add-on's to the Herobrine story will be looked upon with distaste. Herobrine is a Ghost Miner doomed to mine, he takes pleasure with the user by stalking, hurting, scaring or etc. Hero brine makes a great creepy pasta story. And it would be great for the user after defeating the end get's to find and old Temple or Pyramid where they can find Herobrine, that is only a suggestion.

I thank the people who have read this post, because I just wanted to clear something up. Because more and more people are turning it into a fable, and are making "G-file" like videos on how he is a dead brother. :) That is all. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by DarkoDracko (talkcontribs) at 19:07, 27 August 2012‎ (UTC). He's not a manifestation of the player's imagination, he is the product of the player's imagination. Cobalt32 22:49, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Quick Fix

I see some bad formatting early on in the page. Please change this line: "Herobrine is canonically Notch's dead brother, as was written in the first known image of Herobrine. however Notch does not have a dead brother, so the canon to Herobrine is actually false." to this: "The first Herobrine story supposes Herobrine as Notch's dead brother (in real life, Notch does not have a dead brother)." 24.5.192.232 04:07, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey, i'll not saying Herobrine is real, but i can't find this Minecraft version (Alpha 1.0.16_02... maybe it's a edited screenshot) but i still wondering :( --M1n3r2011 15:10, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
