Vandalized

Crafting grid template

{Template:Crafting Table}

New dyes

Wow, Notch added a LOT of new dyes, including some that are made by combining other dyes.

Here's a list I grabbed from a forum entry, maybe this can help:

Red Flower = Red

Yellow Flower = Yellow

Red and Yellow Dyes Next to Each Other = Orange

Bone = White (Bone Meal)

Bone Meal and Blue Next to Each Other = Light Blue <- This still need's added

Bone Meal + Cactus Green = Lime

Bone Meal + Ink Sack = Grey

Bone Meal + Red Flower = Pink

Blue + Green = Cyan

Red + Blue = Purple

Smelted:

Cactus = Green

. . . and according to his blog post, there are 15 total. So there's a lot more.

Magenta Dye can also be made with 1 x Lapis Lazuli, 1 x Bone Meal and 2 x Rose Red anywhere in the crafting grid. This produces 4 x Magenta Dye. TechHeadFred 00:41, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Multiple Wool colors

I don't think it prudent on space nor ease of use to have different possible pages for each color of wool, I've sent them all going to the normal wool page until a solution can be discussed here, or on the talk:wool page. St. Fenix 05:35, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Recipes in Books (a little off topic)

The more recipes there are, the more I like the idea to have them somehow in the game. To have a simple "recipes" tab, where you can look up all the recipes, is somehow too obvious and takes the fun about recipe knowledge out of the game. So what I thought of is to have recipe knowledge stored into books when created. One single random recipe for each book. Libraries (a collection of book cases) would make perfect sense then ;) I would like to discuss here, and if you support that idea, feel free to vote for it at getsatisfaction.

Silly Idea, because the sense of Minecraft is not to build, its to survive and find out crafting recipies! ~~Tizgin
The sense of Minecraft actually is decided by the person playing it. I personally don't care about that survival thing, and play on peaceful all the time. I love to construct buildings, dungeons and whatever. I also don't care about finding recipes myself, i just look them up.
With a game like Minecraft, every player decides what his goals in the game actually are. My goal is to build the ultimate Minecraft City. Yours might be surviving, finding recipes, exploring caves. Whatever works for you. --Cookies 03:22, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

I think its an ok idea but play some total minor on the xbox 360 the idea is to similar to dig deep. and my opinion minecraft is just fine the way it is in total minor you have to go out and find blueprints to make anything. From scarab_god Jan. 17th

Do we really need these pointless redirects?

Why does the "Wood -> Processed Wood" table link to a page called "Four Woods"? That pages is just a redirect to Wood. For the same reason, why does the Fence recipe link to "Two Fence"? This is pointless, it's also just a redirect to "Fence". This is cluttering up the wiki badly. --Flippeh 19:34, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Number of recipes

"Currently, there are 131 recipes; this includes each recipe in the animations below and the two methods of making Mushroom Soup. Chainmail armor is also included in this count."

I count 132 recipes, with only one for the Mushroom Soup (what is the other one mentioned?)… – Scaler 22:18, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Adding in Minecraft Crafting Guide app

My Minecraft Crafting Guide app, dedicated to this page which i released a few days ago with a lot of positive feedback and over 1,000 downloads: http://alandablogger.co.uk/post/2737641429/minecraft-crafting-guide-application

I think it should be inserted in the Main Crafting page, (As a single link or indeed included with a screen-shot) because it's an application dedicated to this recipe list, ultimately showing the players how to craft certain items.

Of course applications aren't meant to be displayed here as there is a separate section for that however no one has created an application like mine, again dedicated to this recipe page.

I think every player of minecraft (more so the newbies or players who forget recipes) would appreciate this application, it's like having MinecraftWiki on your Desktop. It can be run in the background, without internet. If you forget how to craft an item, you pull it up and you can very easily, and quickly find your item. -Monty251 17:49, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Monty251

It doesn't matter that no one has ever created such an application before, that doesn't mean that it has exclusive rights to be on this page instead of "just" on the third party applications page. I'm a programmer, too, and I know we want people to use our stuff, but from your contributions I can see that all you're doing is blatant self promotion as not a single edit you ever made was related to something other than your program. It seems more like you trying to farm donations. --Flippeh 17:55, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Lock

Should this page be locked? I've noticed a few vandalisms to this page recently (created an account to undo one of said vandalisms). Seeing as it only needs to be modified on new version releases, can it be locked to accounts older than a given period (30 days?) --zifnab06 19:55, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Bone

Just wanted to say I noticed a small mistake, Using bones gives three Bone meals not two. :) –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Azuriae (Talk|Contribs) 17:48, 4 February 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Thank you for bringing this to attention, the fixes have been made. --Gnu32 17:57, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

The bone meal description says "Used as a dye to create white (original) wool." If this is the case, what is the crafting recipe for creating white wool? --WhoIsSparticus 07:26, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Add seperate Pages for the Animated Crafting Grids?

What do you think about Adding some Pages for the Animated Crafting Grids? I mean pages where the Content is of Gold, Diamond, Iron and Lapis Lazuli for Example. I dunno how to Name, but what do you think about the Idea? The meaning in back is, that its strange, if you can click on every item in every Crafting Grid but not in animations.. ~~Tizgin

Gravel

I just noticed that 2 cobble next to each other makes one gravel. I dont have any mods installed that would cause this so could someone add it to the crafting page? Im too lazy to do it myself.~~Peturd158

I tried that on my unmodified version and it didn't work. Psycho Robot 20:28, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeah i just tried it on an unmodified version and it didnt work either. I cant think of any mods i have that would do that though.~~Peturd158

Pressureplates crafting info

Title says it all. Pressureplate recipe shows the old version, which now creates wood/stone slabs.–The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xiphophoru (Talk|Contribs) 20:18, 22 February 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

copy, paste...

hi. just looked at this page and thought, this text is quite familiar... did they copy, paste or did someone here? -- Schulz 12:31, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

edit: they also copied the blocks-page, too... guess there are many more. -- Schulz 12:37, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
edit2: another site copying text from here... wtf? --Schulz 13:33, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
doesn't anyone care if text is stolen from here? o.O -- Schulz 10:09, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
I think the answer is: no. Although, coming to think of it, you might want to ask Quatroking or Wynthyst on that matter. Lemme drop a note on their pages about it for you. -Wulfenbach (not on fire for once) 05:23, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
These are old issues that we are aware of. Prior to the acquisition of MCW by Curse, there was no stated copyright or terms of use. Several sites simply helped themselves to our content. Since the acquisition, all contributions are covered by the Curse Terms of Service which is linked in the footer, as well as on every edit page (See the text below the edit window). Images can be licensed by the original uploader under a variety of Creative Commons licenses that can be chosen with the drop down menu on the upload page. There is little we can do about content stealing, as most of these websites are run by anonymous entities without the involvement of lawyers, and courts... especially with the international aspect of a lot of these sites. When Curse originally acquired these sites, I sent notices where I was able to the administrators of these various sites that continued "theft" of our content would be considered a violation of copyright and asked them to cease and desist, and I have not seen any new stuff happening (of course, I'm one person who can't see it all). While I know we all work very hard to make this the best information resource for Minecraft players around the world, and I understand your disappointment and disgust with these copy cat sites (I share these feelings), we need to try to keep things in perspective. A) Imitation is the highest form of flattery, B) this is information about a $20 game, not the cure for cancer. And trust me when I say this is by far the very best Minecraft Site on the internet. Animated Items

The cells in the crafting grid that have animated items in them (logs, materials for tools, materials for ore blocks etc) arent showing up at all for me. Im not sure if this is happening for anyone else but i thought id point it out.Toadbert

Maybe you have javascript disabled, or an incredibly crap browser. –User:Ultradude25 (User:Ultradude25/t|User:Ultradude25/c) at 08:41, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism

The recipe for Chests is listed instead of the recipe for Planks. FelixGriffin 22:22, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

That's me not reading properly, Minecraftgeek1337 vandalized it, putting the output as chests, so I assumed that it was the original, restoring it to chests. --Poiuyt580 22:26, 19 April 2011 (UTC) Fixed!

Doesn't work for me either, it's a new issue as before it has been working and my browser has not been changed in the time. I use the latest Google Chrome. --XarsYs MC 17:27, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Printing

The printable version does not work - there are lots of blank sections. I suspect this is because of GIFs used for some of the Input>Output images. This needs to be addressed as it severely limits the usefulness of this page to many. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by L0max (Talk|Contribs) 21:30, 3 May 2011. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

1. I didn't know there even was a printable version, or why anyone would print it!
2. The page doesn't use any animated gifs. –User:Ultradude25 (User:Ultradude25/t|User:Ultradude25/c) at 11:39, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
1. Left hand side of the page, Toolbox -> Printable version. It is useful to print pages like this and have them next you when playing full screen. Especially useful for beginners and/or children.
2. I'm not sure how the "animations" are done on the page (I assumed GIF), but if you look at, say, the "Ore Blocks", "Input>>Output" image, you'll see what I mean - the item images change from Gold Ingots to Iron Ingots to Diamond Gems to Lapis Lazuli Dyes and over again. Not good for printing.L0max 11:54, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
The animations are done with javascript. I tried to print it, and the result is nice. Of course the animations does not work ^^", but it prints what is on the page when the printing is launched. – Scaler (t) 12:04, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your input. I tried a different web browser and it printed OK. Chrome -> print incorrectly, IE8 -> print OK. Go figure. – L0max 12:12, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Chrome seems to have a lot of problems doing basic tasks, or it at least does them in a strange way (like refreshing the page when you have an anchor link, NO browser does that). Only thing it does good is start up times. :/ At least you've solved the issue. Next you just need to invent paper that supports javascript and you'll be able to print it out and have the animations still. :P –User:Ultradude25 (User:Ultradude25/t|User:Ultradude25/c) at 12:23, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Is an anchor link where it links to a location on the same page? --HexZyle 05:41, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Czech translation

I mean that small player of Minecraft need help but they don't speak English very good, so I want to transtlate pages on this wiki to Czech. If it is possible then send me e-mail jacktech24@gmail.com.

Issue with Slabs and 1.8

1.8 has 6 slabs. The template supports 5. It says if you want more, "make your own". Could someone update the template to allow more (or 6 if it's too hard to make more) Cool12309(T|C) 05:04, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Additional column

With as many recipes as we have now should there be a new column which indicates which version the recipe was introduced? Or at least a column which indicates the newest recipes? --69.164.192.56 02:25, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Chests

The description says that chests do not open with a block above them. However, a chest does open with only a glass block above them(not sure about glass panes though)~Becker260

Chests will not open if a solid block is above them. This excludes transparent blocks like stairs, glass, vines, iron bars, etc. --HexZyle 05:24, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

suggested changes in descriptions

I read through all descriptions of the crafting recipes, and there are several changes I suggest for the sake of clarity. I suggest changing the description for the boat from:

Used to travel in water quicker than swimming.

to:

Used to travel over water surface quicker than swimming.

and a part of the cake description from:

The buckets are not lost in the process.

to

The buckets are not lost in the crafting process.

It should also be noted that melons only drop 3-7 melon slices, so crafting melons from 9 slices is a very inefficient way to store melon slices. Unless the player favors compact storage over efficient storage, it should be used for decorational purposes only.

And maybe consider removing the "But" before "it will always open away from you" in the fence gate description, as there is no contradiction

Strangely, most 1.9 Recipes are not added into the page, only the nether brick things.

Wool change

It says that wool is easily obtained from sheep, however in 1.8 and beyond, you have to go out there and find sheep. Most likely, it will be easier to just use string from indefinitely spawning spiders.

String and Wool

If you can use 4 pieces of string to make wool shouldn't we be able to break wool down into 4 pieces of string?
