NPCs are passive mobs that have a mob model similar to villagers. They are exclusive to the Education Edition.[1]

NPCs will show a "Talk" button if you tap and hold on them.

Spawning[edit | edit source]

NPCs do not spawn naturally, however, they have a spawn egg in the creative inventory. It can also be spawned using commands. (/summon npc ~ ~ ~)

NPCs have a custom name when spawned: §eNPC.

History[edit | edit source]

Pocket Edition Alpha
0.16.0 build 1 Added NPCs.
build 2 Removed NPCs. However, the savegame ID and spawn egg still exists.
build 4 Removed the NPC spawn egg.
Education Edition
0.14.2 Added NPCs. Unlike Pocket Edition 0.16.0 build 1, these NPCs are editable and can be given commands to do certain actions.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • NPCs have villager sounds.
  • NPCs are invulnerable, even if the player that is hitting it is in creative mode. The only way to kill NPCs is using commands, or drop it to fall into the void
  • NPCs can't move themselves, so they can only moved using just one command, a piston or sticky piston, minecart or boat or by pushing it with water.
