Creepers have a chance of dropping up to 2 pieces of gunpowder upon death.

Ghasts[edit]

Ghasts have a chance of dropping up to 2 pieces of gunpowder upon death.

Witches[edit]

Witches have a chance of dropping up to 6 pieces of gunpowder upon death.

Natural generation[edit]

Dungeon chests have a 1 in 12 chance of containing gunpowder.

When crafted this way (without a firework star), the rocket will have no explosion effects. It will have no effect in singleplayer.

Adding more gunpowder increases the duration of the rocket. Up to three gunpowder can be used. Furthermore, multiple firework stars can also be used, in which case all will go off simultaneously when the rocket detonates.

January 29, 2010 Added gunpowder (originally sulphur) as a crafting ingredient for TNT. It could be dropped by any mob.
February 19, 2010 Gunpowder now only drops from Creepers.

1.3 Sulphur was renamed to "Gunpowder"
