Name

brick_block

Brick is a decorative building block that does not naturally spawn anywhere. It is mostly used to make nice looking homes and towers, and more often fireplaces due to its fire immunity. Brick resists explosions no better than cobblestone. A pickaxe must be used to recover the resource of a placed block, but it will take under a second to break. Breaking a block with the player's hand is slow and will not yield the resource.

Current uses of Clay are to be smelted into bricks or the Hardened Clay block. Each clay block yields 4 clay balls, which are smelted into individual bricks, which in turn are crafted into brick blocks. For each clay block found in a map, players can make 1 brick block. Brick blocks are less fuel-efficient to make than hardened clay, as they require four smelting operations instead of one.

[edit] History

Classic
0.26 (October 24, 2009) Bricks are added and have a bright red texture - Brick (Block)-Pre Alpha 1.0.11.png
Infdev
Infdev (February 27, 2010) For a brief time, huge brick pyramids were a rare structure that could spawn. See 1, 2 and 3 to see the pyramids and exploration of them. The pyramids were completely solid; they had no inside rooms. A strange quality about these pyramids is that if one dug under it, a layer of dirt and stone extended under the pyramid. This suggests it spawned right on top of the terrain instead of being a complete pyramid with the bottom parts underground. Pyramids were removed in later versions of Infdev.
Alpha
1.0.11 Craftable brick blocks are added. Bricks have a new texture: Brick (Block)-Pre Beta 1.7.png. The Brick item is also added.
