Bones are items primarily obtained as drops from skeletons.

Obtaining[edit | edit source]

Natural generation[edit | edit source]

Bones can be found in 72.2% of desert and jungle temple chests, in stacks of 4–6.

Mobs[edit | edit source]

Skeletons, wither skeletons, and skeleton horses may drop 0–2 bones upon death.

Fishing[edit | edit source]

Bones can also be obtained by fishing as part of the junk category. The best chance of catching a bone is achieved without the Lure or Luck of the Sea enchantments, yielding a 1.2% chance.

Usage[edit | edit source]

Using a bone on a wild wolf has a 13 chance of taming it. Bones cannot tame an angry wolf or a wolf that someone else has already tamed.
